Quite simply, it does what it's supposed to do with no calibration necessary, and at a low price.

I use it to measure needle weight on my turntable tone arm. Works great.

I purchased this meter to check/set stylus pressure on an old (1960s) turntable I was restoring. The table originally had a crystal cartridge that at some point was changed to magnetic. Unlike modern tonearms, this tone arm had no calibration settings. After getting the table operating (long story there) I had a feeling the stylus pressure was too high. This meter confirmed it. Pressure was about 3X as high as it should have been.Meter is easy to use, comes with a weight to confirm calibration and good instructions. If you are in doubt about the stylus force your table has this is a good tool to have.

Good for the price. Came with batteries and 5 gm calibration wt. Not positive its totally accurate in the 1 gm range as I don't have a calibrated weight to check. I did measure and cut a piece of 10 AWG copper wire which I calculated to weigh approximately close to 1 gm when 1.135 inches long. Putting it on the scale yielded a reading of 1.3 gm not 1 gm. Close enough it seems. I did put both the 5 gm and the copper wire on simultaneously during the calibration and it did indeed affect the readings after calibration. Weighing the wire alone after the altered cal procedure produced a 1.03 reading. Maybe the included 5 gm weight is not really 5 gm or maybe the response of the strain gauge is not linear producing inaccurate reading when not weighing 5 gm. Its good enough for cartridge tracking force but I wouldn't use it in the aerospace industry until I got a confirmed 1gm standard to check it.Comes with a case, but the case is not big enough to hold the foam block which stores the cal weight and the batteries along with the meter. You could just store the weight in the weighing compartment but I also wanted to remove the batteries for long intervals between use and the foam holds them all nicely.

I am so glad that I got this as the weight on my tonearm was way off what I thought it was. This small scale is so easy to use and comes with a small weight of a known value to test the unit. If you want to make your vinyl last as long as possible, buy this and set you phono up correctly!

I discovered my manual method of balancing and setting tracking force was off (heavy) by 0.5 gr. at 2.0 gr. Not good! The scale is easy to use accurate and inexpensive!

Very accurate. I like the fact that it comes with a calibration weight. I can easily measure something down to 1/100th of a gram. Maximum weight is 5g. For instance, I can set the tracking Force to 1.4g or I can tweak it to 1.41 or 1.42 without any problem. This is excellent for fine-tuning your tracking force for your turntable to get optimum performance. I highly recommend owning one of these...
