Each of our family members, with the exception of two new grandchildren, have Christmas Stockings that I have made from kits or designed myself. Each one was completed with wool yarn, so when my daughter-in-law chose this stocking for one of the boys, I happily purchased it. The kit came with everything but, of course, it is to be worked with embroidery floss. After completing a bit of it, working with the separation of the floss strands and then re-combining 8 strands to stitch with, I decided I would not have this completed for this Christmas. I definitely spent more time separating strands than with stitching them, and I still need another stocking for the other grandchild. So, I purchased Paternayan Wool, which is what the others were stitched with, picked the embroidery floss out of the canvas, and began again. I am so happy I did this, because not only is it working up much more quickly, but the wool matches what I used in the other stockings.

This is not a beginner project. The colors on the canvas are not all that clear so you find yourself re-drawing them. When they say 100 hours to finish they are correct!

Pattern is cute. I prepared the canvas by taping the ends and attaching to a stretcher frame. I'm a third of the way done, very unhappy with the coverage from the provided floss and just came to the realization that the chart specifies 8 count on the thread yet the included floss is 6 count. This means that for every strand of 6, you need to pull 2 strands from an additional piece to add them together to make the specified 8 strands. This additional step is a lot of additional work and explains why the coverage looks poor. I'm a third of the way done. Do I rip it all out? Start again? So frustrating!

This is a great design and colors. But it doesn’t work with the six strand embroidery floss included in the kit —- you have to make 8 strand lengths. Very time consuming. The gauge of the canvas is too large for the six.

This is my second Christmas stocking and will order more. I have used Dimensions for many years and these are just great. The colors are bright and exciting. This is not for beginners as their are some places you need to use your own judgement...where certain colors end and others start. But it is not all too difficult to blend colors without negatively affecting the product. The finished product looks even better than the pictures reprented when you buy them. Everything is there from separated floss to stocking backs. Is a great investment for a family heirloom.

I was very excited to find that product but now that I have started on it there are a few flaws,First the colours of the print on the canvas are totally different to the yarns.also the canvas is slightly too loose and the yarn does not cover the canvas properly which means of course that the colours printed on the canvas shows a bit and as they are the wrong colour.... you see the problem...A lot of work and I am afraid I will be disappointed with the redult.
