In our music room, we have been using drum throne type stools for a while. I needed to add one more stool when I stumbled across this bench. It looked sturdier than the stools so I took the chance and I'm glad I did.This bench offers a bit more seating room so it is comfortable over long periods of time. Our music room is also a computer room so the stools, and now this bench, serve double duty as a computer chair. With the stools, I would be fatigued after an hour or so but the bench offers more comfort for the long haul.I want to use this mostly for guitar and horn playing but when it came in, I was at work and my wife immediately put it at her piano. She says that the cushion on this bench is much more comfortable than the one that came with her keyboard. It's also much more portable.This bench goes together easily and by undoing the two thumb screws (pictured) it folds up nicely. Height is adjusted by moving the bolt at the center of the "X" formed by the legs to another set of holes. The whole process takes less than a minute which is the same for the stools we were using.Overall, we are very happy with this bench and, if I were a betting man, I would wager that we will buy one or two more in the future...

The foam used for the seat firm yet comfortable. It sturdy and quite stable. I like fact that it is easy to transport.

After my husband bought a cello for me as a surprise, I found that no seat in the house offered a sturdy position from which to hold it. I bought this stool for playing my new instrument and was pleasantly surprised. The seat is basic but sturdy, and if it isn't constantly adjusted, I think it will provide years of use. Yes, the seat is made to be adjusted, but it involves a little work. There's a screw that you can removed and place in one of three positions in the crossed legs which support it. Again, it takes a bit of effort to change heights, but once a height is selected, the stool has been stable on both my hardwood and carpeted floors. It is also advertised as foldaway to save space. While it can be stored flat, you have to removed the screw to do it which necessitates putting the stool back together when you're ready to use it. This stool doesn't take up much space. It's in your best interest to assemble it to your preferred height and then put it some place out of the way. It has three available heights: approximately 17, 18, and 19 inches. I have had no issue with the comfort of the cushioning. I can see how it would not be comfortable to sit on this stool for hours at a time, but I'm a hobbyist, not a professional musician, and it's easy to sit on for the 30-45 minutes that I practice daily. Overall, this stool was a great deal, and I'm very happy to use it.

It’s not a fancy piano chair but it does exactly the job. The seat is very firm but that’s not a major issue for me since it is used by my kids.Overall, I recommend this item.

This isn’t the most stable stool and I’ve found the grips around the feet like to slip off all the time and make the chair feel lopsided. It’s never out right failed, but it’s distracting while playing. Definitely not useable in any performance setting.
