I can't eat gluten. I just can't. It breaks my heart to not be able to eat it, but eating it would break my intestines... so, no gluten.That's my intro sob story that explains why this donut maker is so amazing to me. Prior to finding out that gluten was going to get me in bad ways, I absolutely loved doughnuts. Apple fritters, glazed, cinnamon sugar, powdered, the ones with the peanuts crumbled on them? Yeah.... I missed those.I didn't think I'd ever get to find fresh donuts that tasted how I wanted until I saw this item. I instantly had to order it. I mean, I have a waffle maker.... and that has done wonders for eliminating gluten for buns / waffles. So, this had to at least stand a chance, right?I unboxed this thing and quickly went to work at making a mix that was gluten free. This donut maker handled it without issues. So much so that I was shocked to find it MUCH easier to clean than my waffle maker - which is one of the main reasons I don't use that waffle maker as much as I'd like!So, it could make them without a mess. What's that matter if the doughnuts taste like crap? The fantastic news is they tasted great. They weren't as fantastic as I remember gluten doughnuts being - but this was my first run at them using an online recipe. Give me a few weeks and enough herbal supplementation and I'll definitely get the recipe nailed. I fear for my waistline. Highly recommend unless you're looking to not eat donuts.
