Magnetic Door sensor will be triggered whenever the 2 parts are separate more than 0.4 inch, so the installation gap between 2 parts must be less than 0.4 inch.Door chime sensor is patched on the door frame and magnetic strip is patched on the door.

I bought these to alert a family member when someone with Alzheimer’s opens a door. It works perfectly for what I wanted. There is not a delay when a door is opened, has many sounds to choose from, and is loud enough to hear from anywhere in the house. We placed them on all the doors, and only used 2 of the plug in monitors, as 3 was overkill and too loud. Perfect to keep track of a wondering Alzheimer’s family member. Simple to program.

The "motion detection" is just based on magnets. When the two pieces are separated, one sends a signal to the base which sets off an alarm/alert. You can choose from many alert sounds but I have found no way to turn the sound volume down. Putting a piece of packing tape over the speaker on the base worked. In the end we put the base in a side room and leave the door mostly closed.The device is simple and cost effective.

I'm using this 18 hrs, 7 days a week, and there's a lot of people opening/closing the doors everyday. Maybe like 200 times a day. Its lasted for about 4 months now, so it's a value for your money. My only issue is it runs through batteries like water. It's not a big issue, just a minor inconvenience that I thought y'all should know if you decide to buy these and are using it as often as I am. It's annoying to have to reset them every time I change the battery and make sure you have sticky double sided foam tape on hand whenever you do change the battery so you can put it up again.
