Been looking for a replacement motor for my 1989 lincoln towncar for about two years, the motor was fine but the housing was completely shattered. The entire assembly was around $200 and up so I was hesitant to get it.Came across this housing which amazon said didnt fit my vehicle but It looked exactly identical to mine so I decided to try it out and it fit perfectly! It was black instead of clear but that doesnt matter. It solved my problem. Im extremely satisfied!I suggest the seller included my 80's lincolns in the list of cars it fits to not deter owners of those vehicles from purchasing this item!

The third gen Camaro hatch pulldown motor......If you own one, you've probably had one that's broken. This housing is made so much better than the factory clear housing, which is brittle and will break on the majority of cars eventually. The material is a much tougher plastic on this...ABS I assume? The housing is a perfect fit and holds the fasteners better. Replacement is somewhat easy if you are mechanically inclined and can remeber what's what and where/how it goes. This is my second Doorman housing I have used on different cars. The first purchase is still working great after 8 years. The important thing to remember once you have rebuilt the motor is to not slam your hatch shut. No plastic is going to hold up to that type of force for long. Instead, pull the hatch down, push it shut until the latch locks and let the motor do what it was designed to do. This is assuming you have working hatch struts, which is another important factor in the longevity of the motor. NEVER let anyone shut your hatch for you without knowing the rules. They will slam it every time.

This item does fit 1993 Lincoln Town Cars even though Amazon and Dorman themselves say it does not. I just replaced the broken housing on my pull-down with this exact part. I simply transferred the factory gear set and motor and it works like a champ again. I only gave it three stars until I can ensure it's longevity. Being Dorman I am cautious but hopeful. I can without hesitation tell you to stay away from their Blend Door Actuators and Speed sensors.

Part came quickly and was excellent quality. Easy to install. Amazon car parts are well priced and arrive quickly, with prime no shipping which is great. Car parts sites shipping can be very high and slow.

The housing appears to be manufactured from a material that will resist embrittlement with age and may be better than the OEM Plastic however, the tolerances were off such that it required significant modification to get the drive gear bearing to fit into the housing. Because of poor quality control this product required approximately (2) additional hours labor to install.

I have a 1989 Buick Riviera and this part was exactly what I needed for my broken trunk pull down motor. The housing on the original motor started cracking and got to where it would not work without pushing down on the trunk to help it close. This part seems to be way better than the original. Just remember how everything came out of the old one when replacing the motor into the new housing and you'll be fine. The screw holes were very tight so I ran the screws through them and back out to make it easier when it came to assembly. Simple job. Little greasy. Update. Still working perfectly after 2 1/2 years.

If your over-engineered, under-functioning trunk release motor stops working, it's likely that the plastic housing has broken (usually in several places). Dorman offers this factory-quality replacement housing at a great non-dealer price. It is the ideal choice for economical replacement of the failure-prone factory piece and works just as well. Sure, there are other companies on the web that offer "reinforced" versions for a lot more and it would be nice to see an "upgraded" version readily available from Dorman, but the warranty on this part is very good, so if it ever fails again, you're covered. Don't hesistate to replace your broken factory unit with the Dorman housing. We have used them in two cars with heavy trunk lids and have had zero problems so far. Highly recommended!

Reason for Buying:Needed this part to fix the auto-trunk in a '90 Cadillac Seville. I already had the switch, latch, motor, and screws.Pros:Not clear: made of black plastic instead. (Looks WAY more durable than what I replaced.)Fixed a ghetto trunk perfectly for $23 bucks.Cons:Not quite OEM specs...? Wasn't able to fit the "washer" in. Everything else fits, and it works great, but no "washer/ring/spacer"Not clear: can't see what's going on inside! but who cares.

Bought this to repair the hatch pull down motor on an '89 Camaro. These are a weak point on a lot of GM vehicles produced around this time. The original housing is transparent, and is usually falling to pieces through misuse or wear. This housing is far stronger, and fits perfectly. Fortunately, my motor still worked, but I also needed a new gear to complete the repair. (old one was stripped out - also plastic).
