This fit my drive aft perfect. It's been almost 2 years now and it is still doing good with no problems. I could have saved some money and bought a cheaper one but dorman is well known aftermarket brand.

This CV (constant velocity) joint fits the rear end of the FRONT driveshaft (prop shaft) . (Front of transfer case)Our 2005 Jeep Liberty had been making a noise while moving. It sounded like a chain being dragged lightly across a bell and followed the vehicle speed. At one point, while in 4hi with snow on the road, it gave a terrible vibration for a few seconds. Shifting to 2wd made it go away. You can get underneath and grab the shaft (beware hot exhaust pipe) and check for play between the shaft and the joint. There is a rubber boot that degrades over time allowing water and grime into the joint causing friction.I had replaced the same joint maybe 2 years before with a Crown Automotive brand CV but it did not last. We use 4x4 MAYBE twice a year. The way the Libery is designed the front shaft spins 100% of the time, even in 2wd (one reason for Liberty's poor mileage). Although there is no stress on the CV in 2wd it still wears. It IS safe to remove the front driveshaft and drive in 2wd so I did that until I could get the part. The old Crown replacement CV was mangled. The grease had dried. In retrospect I should have used higher quality grease instead of what came with the part. The actual replacement of the joint was not difficult but fitting it back in the jeep and torquing the bolts was kind of tedious. Tighten a few bolts that you can reach, move the vehicle forward or backward to access the others. Repeat. Mark the bolts so you know you got them all, it can get confusing.Ideally I would buy a new mopar front shaft but, too expensive. (Original lasted about 130,000 miles).A good CV in this case should be very tight but still smooth when moved by hand(removed from car). No rotational slop. A bad one will flop around.

Was missing the end cap to the kit and I had to re-use the old one and couldn't wait for a replacement kit. Also the kit seemed to have been opened as the parts arrived in a non-factory bag inside a box. Would look elsewhere for this kit if you can.

I recently installed this CV joint replacement kit on my '06 Liberty. The included installation instructions were pretty generic, but a quick internet search returned a great step-by-step installation guide. Amazon's picture and product description accurately detail what's included. However, I ended up not using the new bolts, as the heads were a size bigger than OEM, and made it a bit difficult to install. When installing, make sure you have all the required tools to do the job -- special tools include a crimp for the new band, and a snap-ring pliers.Since installing this weekend, I've put 300 miles on the Jeep without issue. I'll update my review once I get more miles in. So far this kit is saving me almost 400 dollars over the cost of a replacement drive shaft!

Much cheaper than $300-$400 for a whole driveshaft. Despite the negative reviews, I thought it was pretty good quality for made in China after market. I put it in a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Mine has a u-joint at the differential and this cv at the transfer case. I recommend loosening the cv bolts before you remove the driveshaft, unless there is retaining ring. If yours is like mine, you may want to replace your front u-joint while you have it all apart anyway. My u-joint was fairly new, so I just repacked it with grease. The swap is a piece of cake. If your retaing ring is still on, you will have to pry the back cap off the old cv joint to remove it. I removed mine last time I changed my u-joint. Basically remove the old cv, then put the new one together. Dab sone loc-tite on the bolts. The gasket goes on the rubber boot side. Put a couple bolts through to use as a guide for the back plate. Then pack the bearing with grease. Dont be shy on it. I used some good grease I had, rather than the who knows what kind it is grease that comes with it. Put the gasjet on, then put the rubber boot plate on. I used my bench vise to squeeze the unit together. If its not squeezed together, the bolts will not ve long enough to reach the threads. Overall, really simple job. I do recommend ramps if your a driveway mechanic, so you have enough room to finagle the shaft around.

This part worked and fit perfectly. Was not too hard a swap thanks to some other forums tutorials. So far so good... only had this part installed for ~ 3 weeks. I'd expect it to last for another 90K+ miles. Thank.*** 11/24/2014 *** Update *** Was rotating the tires on my wives KJ and checking various parts. I noticed the outer rubber boot on this Kit was completely torn apart exposing the internals/bearings. This has only been on the jeep for 11 months. KJ is a daily driver... put ~ 12K miles on the rig each year. This product went on well, worked fine, but

This kit worked out perfectly for my 03 JGC. I had actually bought a reman prop shaft that made a horrible vibration. After that nightmare getting my money back etc...I bought this and a new u-joint to rebuild my original one. Works perfectly now, was actually easier than I thought it would be. Inluded grease. Instructions are all but useless but work well for keeping grease off of your working surface. Hopefully the boot will hold up, will update if I have any issues.

This new CV joint fit perfectly. The only special tools you need is a C clio/ring expander and a banding tool to seal the boot off. This is much easier to do and cheaper than buying a new driveshaft. I tried the new driveshaft route and it was grossly out of balance.

Perfect fit, good quality. I re-used the original hex bolts instead of the supplied Allen key bolts because the supplied ones were a bit shorter. They probably would have been fine, but I prefer the threads to stick out a bit on the other end.

Fit perfect and went together as it should. Only problem is in the description of the location of the joint. It is at the transfer case end not the front diff end.
