Handcrafted
In 1989, DR Strings re-introduced handmade round core string making to the general market. It requires a lot of skill, time and care, but we feel it’s worth it because we can hear the difference between a handmade string and a machine made string.
Our winders take at least 6 months to learn their craft. It takes that long to develop a feel, an understanding, an instinct to make the constant tiny adjustments that only a hand can make. At each stage we test the wire, we check that it is pristine when it arrives from our suppliers, we inspect each and every wrap during production to ensure its quality, and then again as we hand-package it.

I usually use Hi-Beams, but decided to give these a try. I liked them, but didn’t notice enough of an extended life compared to Hi-Beams to justify paying $10 more for a set.

something is wrong with these strings. this is my second pair. I tried the nickel and they went dead after one show. I am trying the stainless steel to see if they are will keep more brightness. Right now it sounds good but the A string does not have the same brilliance as the other strings and sounds dead after putting it on. I know these are new type of string for DR. Something must be wrong with how they are made cause they obviously defective and inconsistent. Maybe buying them from Amazon is the mistake.

Finally a stainless string that lasts with brightness and pop for a long period of time. They are really well balanced and somehow have a “softer†feel than the regular stainless (I know that’s subjective)! Try them, and you won’t be disappointed!
