I used it may be 10 times in the last week to clear a stubborn clog that was just out of reach. So I finally attached a thick wire to the tip and that cleared the clog.Pros:1. Easy to use and goes through the sink with in-built strainer that restricts the size of what enters the sink. And easy to retract!2. The ingenious way to connect it to the drill makes it so easy to operate! I can vary the speed, pull and push, and even reverse speed to get the clog.3. The tip looks strong enough to me. Does not look like it will break soon.Cons:1. I wish it was 2 inches longer. My clog was barely out of reach. After attaching a 2-inch hard but flexible wire to the tip, it looks all set for any future clogs in my bathroom.

I have an earlier version of this Drainshroom that works pretty well. I purchased this newer version recently and am very disappointed. The Amazon ad shows the older version and you will not get the one advertised or pictured. The one you receive, not advertised, is now about half the diameter and strength as the older version. Much too weak to put down a drain. It’s also covered with a plastic sheath that, in theory, would make it slide better but it just twists itself up in a ball on the cable. The cable also easily twists up as you spin it. It’s too weak and almost impossible to get it down the drain without it kinking and twisting around itself. If you encounter any obstruction it will fail. I do not recommend. I am trying to let Amazon know, since they are the seller, but they make that difficult. This item is falsely advertised and a waste of time and money.

Live in the country and get my water from a water well 380 feet deep, water is good but it's hard water. Get deposits inside the hot water copper pipes near joints, this device sliced right through them, opening up the kitchen and washer pipes to full pressure when both were not even a trickle. Massive blockages in both, washer clog was 3 foot deep. All you need is a drill, this device saved me a fortune, cheapest estimate from a plumber was $200.

Okay so the tip on this broke instantly. You can actually see it tangled in the gross wad from my photos haha! Clearly this clog was too tough for it to handle. No big deal- I took a pair of scissors to the plastic tubing to give it "hooks" to grab hair- and as you can see it totally worked! Grabbed that huge clog of hair and now I don't need to worry about the plumber haha. Unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to use it again. For the price it did the job- I just had to get a little creative!Easy to use- obviously the plastic tip material is a little cheap/ better for tiny clogs, but hey, if you've got a will you've got a way and this tool will help you get it done! I'd definitely buy it again.

The Pros: This will definitely grab a wad of hair from a drain. The plastic coating on the spring reduces the risks of the spring catching on clothes or body hair during use. The narrow diameter does help to get through smaller holes. The Cons: The guide handle is rather securely attached near the drill end, and takes a decent amount of force to dislodge. This will NOT work well with a hex drive cordless driver, as the hex shaft which does not have any detents to keep it in the driver. It must be used with a standard drill's Jacobs chuck.Given the length, care must be taken to not let this twist up and kink. When initially feeding it into drain where you need to manipulate it, you may find it a bit unwieldy.Removing hair and scum which this snags from the spring can be problematic and time consuming. Because the spring is small, when it does pick up debris, you must remove it before trying again. Hair tangled in the spring is not easily removed, and may require careful use of a knife to cut it free.Note: When this does snag a wad of hair, if you have fed it through a smaller drain hole, you may find you have a problem because the hair ball will not pull through. All in all, the idea seems better than the implementation.

Like many others have mentioned this is for really light duty only. You need to be really careful not to overtwist it if it binds up on something because the coil will kink and you'll never be able to get that bend out. Remember the days of crappy telephone cords turning into rats nests? Imagine that but with metal. And covered in hair and sludge. Drill it in slowly and if you start to meet resistance, pull it back out. If it won't budge, put the drill in reverse. If it gets totally bound up and you continue to overtighten it, the coil will violently turn itself into TWO snakes which are going to then angrily unwind themselves at mach 3, now whether the back of your left hand is in the vicinity of these two blenders is up to you. Mine was... What fun is home improvement and maintenance if there isn't at least a little blood? It's a fine product for what it cost. It's plenty long so for the other reviewers saying it didn't reach... Reach what? The sewage treatment plant? It's enough to get past the trap and if you have a clog worse than that you've got some serious problems. Just don't do it like an idiot.

I bought this because we get drain clogs every other month or so (long hair, dogs, etc). I've usually just had the cheap disposable plastic snakes, but figured something reusable would be the way to go. Used it in the sink, seemed to work fine except the teeth/barbs on the end of the snake were already wearing down. Used it on the tub drain, and the whole cable of the snake detached from the handle...completely broken and unusable. And the barbs on the end of the snake were completely broken off. I didn't use it on a high speed drill or anything, just spinning it in small increments while moving it down the drains. And it was only pulling up hair, so not like serious blockages. For $14 and all it advertised I expected much better quality, especially when a pack of plastic snakes that essentially have the same result was only $6 on Amazon. I'd ask for a refund if I could.
