If your equipment require 3 wire null modem cable (data lines TX, RX and GND signal ground ), 5 foot 9 pin serial cable adapter is what you need, enables you to add your peripherals to an application or replace the cables.
(Note: this male to male crossover cable work by only wiring the transmit and receive lines crossed - TX to RX, RX to TX; other control lines like RTS CTS are not cross-linked, not a loopback handshake null modem cable, neither a full handshake null modem cable.)

Black DB9 serial cable male to male is with gold plated pins for superior corrosion resistance, ensuring a solid basic null modem cable connection.
The connectors are equipped with a pair of thumbscrews for securing the plug to the female socket.

I returned this cable because of its poor quality. You can do much better elsewhere- Avoid.

The description says:Wired as a 9 pin serial port Null-Modem cord that 2-3 line are crosslinked (only TX/RX data and signal ground wires connected); standard shielded with AL foilAnd it's true pins 2 and 3 are crosslinked as desired but it is not true that only TX and RX are ground are connected. All the other pins are wired straight through which means that if you connect it to another DCE device, both side will be trying to drive the same lines. So even if you have no handshaking, you still can have problems as the two sides fight each other.The solution would be for the manufacturer to eitherCrosslink (pins 4 and 6) and (pins 7 and 8) or, as the description says, assume there isn't handshaking and leave all other pins unwired. That is, have only 3 conductors in the cable.

Bought for the Null Modem aspect. Don't buy if thats what your after. Should have tested them in the return period.

unfortunately i received wrong part, instead of RS232 null modem cable i received Rs232 straight point to point cable.
