Only used this product for 2 days, but so far, I'm very pleased. I am using this device to create a rs232 com port on a Windows 10 computer. I installed the software first before plugging the cable into any port. Once installed, I plugged the usb side of the cable into the computer. The device was immediately recognized and a com port was assigned. I am using this to communicate between my computer and a power amplifier for ham radio, and it has worked flawlessly. I am also pleased with the 10 foot cable which is shielded. The red LED lights on the device also help to know it is functioning.

I used this to interface with older pieces of laboratory equipment so that we could use them on modern hardware with more success. This thing is a bit finicky with some of the terminal emulators but once you get it going it works just fine. I dunno why 'sheerness' is considered a reviewable point here but yes, it's shiny.

THIS IS A NULL MODEM CABLEPretty much all female end ones are it seems.Pins 2 and 3 are switched. Took me hours of troubleshooting to figure this out as the description doesnt mention it anywhere.

I should have read other reviews more closely - despite using the this cable only has 3 pins connected, doesn't have the functionality needed for my application. Seems like the following part of the product description is quite misleading:"9 wire pinout 1-9: DCD, RXD, TXD, DTR, GND, DSR, RTS, CTS, RI"Might be handy for some folks in some cases, I suppose.
