I broke down a few Victorinox Alox swiss army knives so that I could build my own custom one. I've done this quite a few times for either myself or friends that want something custom built. I like to tap the outside aluminox scale material so I can attach a pocket clip to it. I bought these after breaking a more expensive set from Knife Kits. I bought them primary due to the low cost and because they supported Prime shipping instead of the more expensive shipping from Knife Kits. These have worked perfectly. Not a single issue with either the drill bit or the tap and my screws hold as you would expect. I will definitely buy these again if either piece ever breaks.

Broke the tap in aluminum first try. It broke when I was backing it out. You have to be real careful when using these very small taps.

Zero Complaints. These are a half the price of the hardware store and hobby grade. When used with plastic and other softer metals, I have tapped most holes by hand, no drill or tool needed. I use these to prep RC composites or chase RC metal threads for screws installs.

Does what it says on the tin, it cuts threads well. Be warned, these are extremely delicate. No fault of the quality of the taps, of course, but with a tap this small, the slightest bit of binding or lateral pressure WILL snap them. Go slow and gentle, use plenty of fluid

I use this set for 1/64 Diecast car mods. The metal that I tap is not hard, soft pot metal used for Hot wheels, and matchbox cars. The drill bit sheared after about 10 uses, it was dull after 5 holes. The tap itself survived a bit longer but meet the same fate. I am cautious when taping to avoid braking or stressing the tool, even with careful handling and, lubrication, I still managed to sheer the tap, on the reverse at that! I use finger pressure to avoid over torquing the tap, I removed the leverage bar/pin from the tap holder To not over torque the tool. Spend a little more cash and get a stronger tool, unless you are tapping plastic!
