Adjustable Sweep and Latch Valves
The Dynasty Hardware 1636 Series Door Closer features two adjustment valves. One valve adjusts the closing speed and the other valve is used to adjust the latching speed. The Allen wrench for adjusting the door closer is included.
Adjustable Back Check
The Dynasty Hardware 1636 series door closer offers an adjustable back check valve. The back check adjustment controls the amount of resistance to opening the door past a selected point. This feature controls how far the door can be opened to protect walls. Back check is used to slow the door down if someone throws the door open, or if the wind were to catch the door, and blow it open. Back check is used to slow the door down, not to stop the door.
1636 Series Door Closer Mounting Options
They Dynasty Hardware 1636 Series Door Closer can be mounted regular arm, parallel arm or top jamb. Each door closer includes a parallel arm bracket and all fasteners required for installation.

This was a cost effective way to replace an existing door closer. It works well, adjusts easily, and fits in using the standard mounting holes.

I bought this to replace a closer on our door to the garage that was starting to fail. I wanted one that would not stay open like our last one since we sometimes didn't notice that the door was left open. This one fit the bill. It has a template to install that was a great help. It is also very easy to adjust with separate adjustments for the power to close in general and the latching speed. After installation and adjustment, the door was harder to open than I had hoped but after using it for a while, it is now easier to open.

It was a good price , but the only thing is that it not easy to install. I bought for medical office replacement for door. It wouldve been great to install it straight out of the box ,not put pieces together.

After installing it works well for a few weeks. It started slamming my door. I adjusted once,two weeks later , it started slamming again. Then I adjusted it again. Make it much slower. Hope it will not slamming my door again.

It’s generally hard to be sure by the Picture and Description whether or not I’m ordering the correct item but in THIS case……it was a PERFECT Replacement….the Price was quite Reasonable and it worked PERFECTLY.

Have this install for my restaurant front door, the door is very heavy metal glass door and this handle it great, even on windy days, it held well and never broken down. It's been install for a few months now, never have a problem for it yet. Super easy to install, easy to understand instructions.

I used this door closer to replace a very old broken closer on an outside door. I was looking for a closer that could handle wooden door and provide closer and back-check adjustments. I did not have to make any adjustments when I installed it. Time will tell if I need to make any adjustment as it has more use. The closer appears to be well making and a good finish. It comes with a template that was useful. All screws required for the various install combinations are included. The wood mounting screws come a tip that I assumed permits some self taping. I pre-drilled a hole smaller than the screw and let the tap in the screw drive the screw in.

Bought this for a wellsite shack in the oilfield. People in and out of the door all day and everyone just LOVES slamming the door behind them, like it wont close unless you do. I was at the end of my patience. Bought this, installed it easily with the directions, took a bit of time to get the adjustment done correctly but it works perfectly, wont allow anyone to swing it shut, then shuts quietly.

I bought 2 of these units for a project. one of them arrived with the housing broken by one of the mounting holes. Upon inspection, I found that the housing is only about 1/16" thick in this area and makes it quite fragile.
