My daughter is in high school band. She was scared to tell her band instructor that she could not remove the mouthpiece on her French horn. Oh that piece HAD TO COME OUT for cleaning.I purchased this unit and with just a little work, it made its way out…followed by a lot of grossness I wish I could spare your imaginations. Suffice it to say, this tool gets used DAILY to prevent future formation of cesspool drainage…If you don’t have one of these tools and play an instrument that you need to clean out regularly…GET ONE. You…and your band instructor will be glad you did.

Bought this in a jiffy cause my tuba mouthpiece was stuck. I think it may have been just around the max size for it but it was able to come out! Very happy with this purchase

The bottom part doesn't stay tight. This wrecks the whole mechanism making it worthless. Since the bottom slides down constantly, there is no pressure to lift the piece out. Waste of money.

Compared to the name brand mouthpiece puller that I've used before, this one was comparable and cheaper, but not 100% perfect. It relies on the same physics as the name brand version, working quite well for stuck mouthpieces. The only difference I could really see was the turning screw handles. The name brand version usually has pieces that are wider and easier to turn due to the amount of surface area you can grab on to. These look like standard wingnut tops, which I had to use a pair of pliers for those really stuck mouthpieces.Other than that, well worth it!

Made from aluminum with steel screws and wingnuts, it didn't marr up anything when I used it because I put tissue paper between the instruments parts and the tools parts. Useful tool for anyone who owns a brass instrument with a mouthpiece and a heavy hand.

This simple tool should work for freeing stuck mouthpieces from most brass instruments. What pleasantly surprised me, was that I was able to use it to separate Conn mouthpiece bits both from "each other" and from a sousaphone neck. All had been firmly stuck for years. On one bit, I did wind up using a plastic washer from my junk drawer to give the tool more "shoulder" to pull against. Cut the washer in one place, snapped it around the stuck bit, and separated....just like "pulling" a mouthpiece. Easy! Note: In the photos, marks on the bits were caused by previous "attempts" to separate....not from the puller tool reviewed.
