Even the abacus uses fives as a counting tool. The fact that each row has five red and five white beads makes it easy for kids to do simple addition (5 red + 2 white = 7; or 10 beads - 3 beads = 7 beads, 5 red and 2 white, etc.) With ten rows, you can practice skip-counting by tens. With five beads of each color on each row makes it easy to skip-count by fives. These are just a few examples of things you can do with this tool. It helps kids visualize quantities, and gets them thinking about how much more or less than 5 or 10 an actual number looks like.

Great abucus. I bought several different ones, and this one is the only one my grandson has any interest in. The two colors, are great for grouping, and skip counting. The size and smooth way the beads slide make it very easy and fun to use. I keep it out at all times and he plays with that and his number blocks all day. Very pleased customer!

Reasonably priced product than others in the market. Perfect for numeracy teaching especially Maths Recovery work.Only thing I would change would be to put a little more space between the rows or make the beads a little bit tighter on the bars, because whenever my kid tries to move beads with her 5-year-old fingers, she catches a few on the next row.If you found this review helpful pls let me know. Thank you 😊

I use this to teach math skills for grades TK-2nd grade like counting, adding, subtracting, counting on from a number, count by tens, grouping numbers etc. This is a great visual tool to develop number skills appreciation. Satisfied!

Would not purchase again. Decent product but not good for 4- year old fingers. Too difficult to move one Row without knocking the other row.

The upright positioning makes the device more user-friendly. It is being used by an elementary student who has found it to be a great asset! This unit started with a seven-year-old and has proven to assist with a better understanding of the equations because of the visual concept. I would highly recommend this beginning with pre-K!

This thing rocks for homeschooling and early childhood homework! I bought it for my first grader learning at home currently and it has made math SO much easier for him. This abacus is light weight but doesn't fall over easily and is the perfect size which makes using it really easy. I love this thing and highly recommend it!
