This is a high quality and well made tool. Easy to assemble, and easy to use, the biggest challenge we had was cleaning out the holes if they got plugged, or when the last hole was completed and there was no more earth to push the earth out of the holes. But other than this this product is tough and durable. We have a smaller lawn and this was good enough for a small lawn - no need to rent an aerator. Plus you can get some exercise by using this one.

2/5 stars for ease of assembly. This thing is not easy to get lined up and took some wrestling to get the screws to go in correctly. Once in, it works great.4/5 stars for ease of use. Works as intended when your soil is already full of moisture and easy to dig through. The plugs will look great and be extracted out of the top into the hopper like the pictures show. If your soil is hydrophobic and SUPER packed down like mine was, this thing is a nightmare. It doesn't extract the plugs... the tines just get jammed up with super packed dirt and that's it. I still continued to use it and just jammed it into the ground anyways and made holes. After 'coring' the yard and then watering 3x per week to ensure 1+ inches of water got down, the soil started to become easier to actually core and the device use looked like the pictures. Don't give up. It does work to fix your soil.5/5 stars for sturdiness. I have jammed this thing down into the soil and also stepped and jumped on it for over a month now, and it still looks new and no structural damage.

The aerator works very well, provided your soil isn't overly compact. If it is, I recommend watering your lawn for a few days beforehand to make the job easier.Once you get going and start pulling out good-quality cores, you’ll inevitably ask yourself, “Why on earth did I think this was a good idea to do manually?†To be clear, this isn’t a fault of the tool itself—it’s sturdy, durable, and does its job well. The real issue is the sheer insanity of manually aerating a lawn when you’re pulling out only three cores at a time. Staring down at the first dozen cores and realizing you have tens of thousands left to go can make anyone question their life choices. That said, if you’re determined (or just plain stubborn), you will get the job done.In the end, I’d recommend this manual aerator—but only if you’re a perfectionist with a touch of masochism. Good luck!

I’ve tried spiked shoe attachments before, but found that these can actually compact soil because they just spread the dirt. This aerator tool create cores which will allow surrounding soil to fill in and loosen the ground more. So far it’s worked great however it can be tough in areas where the soil is really compact.

I could almost hear the earthworms under my lawn saying in unison, "Finally... some fresh air!" My lawn had a layer of thatch which I raked out and then used this lawn aerator coring tool to provide good penetration of water and fertilizer. It's amazing how easy this is to use, maybe it's my soil but I didn't need to use the cleaning tool at all.I progressed in rows across the lawn, and simply shook out the cores it produced every once in a while as I used the corer. After a few waterings the cores just dissolve. I'm very satisfied with this "solid as a tank" yard tool.My only suggestion would be to make the bolts about 1/8 inch longer. Because of the thickness of a weld one of them was a slight struggle to get the nut onto it. But definitely not worth penalizing a star.

Easy to put together and it worked on the lawn. Better than paying about $320 for a company to do the work. It took me about an hour to do 1/3 of an acre. Wish it was a little longer so I would have been done a little sooner.

Takes a long time to do even a small area and it often clogs and is difficult to clean out.
