Wouldn’t crack egg. Eggs got stuck without opening. It was a mess

To have even a chance of working properly, after inserting the egg, the user must squeeze and hold two piercing blades together with one hand at the bottom so they align as a single sharp edge while slowly squeezing the handle just hard enough they will stay together – but not so hard they crack the shell. Once the pre-loading of the cutting blades against the shell is 'right', remove the lower hand (so it does not get covered with egg), and squeeze the handle - not too slow, but not too fast, and not too hard. Out of six tries, I managed to get the yoke to drop intact only twice. The other four times the shell broke into lots of little pieces, which had to be removed by hand, or the shell cracked and drained, but the yoke did not drop, or the yoke broke before it dropped, usually with shell particles. It is a slow and frustrating procedure, and seldom works as advertised. The instructions warn that the egg cracker is made of plastic and cannot go into a dishwasher, and it must be washed by hand. The basic design of the egg cracker is interesting and is perhaps OK, but in dire need of refinement. Mine is now in the garbage after only two days.

Very easy for my youngest to use. He has a limb difference and only has one fully developed hand. It’s tricky enough to crack eggs as a little kid and when you only have one hand, it’s really frustrating for him when he wants to help me cook or bake. This gadget is really awesome as an adaptive tool! We’ve had it about a month and it has worked every time he’s used it. It would be great for arthritis sufferers or if someone has broken their hand. It isn’t difficult to clean and stores easily in our utensil drawer. It might look cheap but it works great!

bought this because i could not find my original egg crater. this one the bottom arms that price the don't close together, but if you force together it works just fine. I found my "as seen to tv egg crater" its bottom arms are in perfect position and is better built. this is a good second

I experience what is called an essential tremor (my hands and fingers shake). Cracking eggs into a bowl is an exercise in futility - shell fragments everywhere...I thought this product was going to be a solution, and I believe in design, it could have been. Unfortunately, it is built so poorly with the cheapest possible materials I can imagine, , it was doomed to fail from the get go. Would pay 2-3 times as much for a quality product that actually works.

Sometimes the egg cracker works perfectly but often the top cracks first and the yolk breaks. The top of the egg pincer should have a surface like an inverted spoon to evenly distribute the force on top of the egg so the bottom always cracks first. I may try to modify mine this way. A handy kitchen gadget though.

SEE EDITS BELOW IN "ETA" (edit to add) placesETA: I downgraded this tool from 2 stars to ONE star. It's a COMPLETE FAIL for each task tested1) INTACT YOLKS FOR OVER-EASY EGGS Although it's an interesting design that's meant to mimic a one-handed egg-crack, when the blades pierce the egg, they also pierce the yolk because the blades are below the egg -- thus the yolk is resting on the part of the shell that gets pierced and cracked and the yolk breaks. Thus, my over-easy eggs quickly became scrambled2) BAKING I thought this tool would be fine for my weekly baking that requires whole eggs to be beaten into the recipes... ETA: NOPE, in the last use for baking, the egg shattered and dropped eggshells into my batter!!!3) SEPARATING EGG WHITES AND YOLKS Not sure how it would do for separating yolks from whites, but I suspect it will be less-than-functional, because it pierces the yolk, and to separate them, the yolk needs to remain intact while the white slides away from itToo bad...

I have as neurological conditioin which affects strength, coordi nation and dexterity.So I collect tools & methods to help me in the kitchen.This egg cracker was a bit wonky in the beginning, e.g. crushed shell, punctured yoke, etc.Then one morning I dropped the cracker with egg and when I picked it up I noticed the metal tooth had partially punctured thre egg.Squeezing the arms, the shell seperated perfectly.I then mounted another egg, but this time I taaped the bottom of the cracker on the egg of ther pan, again the metal tooth punctured the egg and separated perfectly.So myt tip is, tap the cracker on the pan or counter and when yopu see the metal tooth puncture the egg, squeez the cracker arms gently an watch your egg separate perfectly into your pan..

What a fantastic item, I break eggs so much easier now,my hands aren't as great as they once were so this gadget works brilliantly for me
