Excellent egg poacher

I purchased the non-silicone version of this model, and it does work as described. The instructions are few and far between, but I was able to get the basics from some of the reviews. Perhaps the biggest issue is that it was difficult to nail down the perfect microwave time and power level for poaching eggs that are satisfactory. It took me a week and two dozen eggs of testing to finally find the right settings for eggs the way I like them.During the week of testing, I adjusted microwave power, water level, water temperature, and the size of the egg as well. The best combination that I found was 1min,50 seconds at 70% power. On my 1100 Watt microwave, that is roughly 770 W. The egg whites were almost fully cooked, and the yolk was still somewhat soft. Not perfect, but adequate for a $10 product in my opinion.Other positive aspects of this product are that it is very easy to clean, and the tab in the center for cracking the egg is very useful. One recommendation I have is that you poke the yolk with a toothpick before cooking so it doesn't explode in the microwave.

Handy for quick poached eggs. Cut down on cooking time to make ithe eggs similar to poached. The suggested time makes a nice quick boiled egg for egg salad. Very handy for every kitchen

This creates nice and soft poached eggs because of the water it uses. Previously, I had a poacher that didn't use water, and the eggs turned out rubbery. However the picture of the nicely circular eggs shown on the plate aren't real as in this poacher, the eggs cook in whatever shape it wants to in the blue strainer. My biggest issue is that a fair amount of the egg whites seep through the slats into the outside water holder, then get cooked in the bottom of the water pan. It's hard to get them off and end up being wasted.Being somewhat obsessive about my poached eggs, I then purchased "Kitzini Poached Egg Cup. Egg Coddler 4 Set". I place these in the water of this poacher, put my eggs into them (use a bit of oil!), and place the poacher lid on top to prevent egg shrapnel from covering the top of the microwave if/when the egg pops. I'm still getting the timing down, but they cook in a nice shape and still have very good texture. To me, it's worth the extra effort.

There no instructions, cook times etc. I’ve tried five times. Four times the eggs exploded. I watched YouTube and followed the steps. Cook time started at 60 secs down to 35 secs. 35 had to add some more. In all five I got hard yoke, not nice and runny. Total waste of time

I have cooked nearly a dozen eggs in this device. None were 'good' and only two were - good enough to serve to anyone else. Possibly. It's messy to clean up after as well. I do like the ability to crack eggs on the provided bump. But that isn't enough to keep me from trashing this. A bad investment on my part.

Works well. There have been a few eggs that exploded so I put a bowl on the top.

Well made, and amazingly does the job.You may need to adjust your amount of time.I have a 1000w microwave and must reduce cook time to 60 seconds. So easy and fast!Plus a breeze to wash, dries quickly too!
