The one I received has black corrugated aluminum tubing. The above pictures show smooth & shiny tubing. Don't know if I received an older outdated model or a newer version! The instruction manual that came with it is confusing and may not be for this pruning shear. For instance, the manual lists 40MM as the maximum branch cut diameter versus the 50MM listed above. I contacted the seller XQC-US about some of these problems but only received a partial and misleading answer. Review updated 2/8/2025: I found a near identical pruning shear on Amazon that has the smooth & shiny tubing. The model number on the one I bought is YX2440-AM03 and the similar on is YX2440-AM01 so I'm going to assume I have the newer version. I haven't been able to cut thru any 2" diameter branches. The thickest branch I'm able to cut through is about 1 1/2" diameter.

So this could be a pretty awesome tool. The extension deal is pretty awesome and I could see it being a game changer but unfortunately the shears themselves suck have not enough power and don't cut nearly as well as a pair I use to have. Pretty much within 30 mins on the first time I went out to try the extensions I ended up breaking the shears off which didn't mess up the extensions stay battery life is good but I can't get over the fact that I couldn't get it to cut some thicker pricker bushes when my old one would cut whatever for into it's jaw. Would work well for you roses maybe. Also it ended up messing up where the jaw go 2 far closed and doesn't open back up bummer honestly
