Two-shield system
The Emery Edger utilizes a "two-shield system" in which paint creeps around the inner shield, but then travels into a reservoir and is blocked from reaching the trim by a second outer shield. The inner shield is also extremely thin, which produces a professional tight edge with absolutely no gap between the paint line and trim every single time.

I was excited to try this trimmer on my indoor walls and ending up pitching them. The first issue was attaching it my new 2" brush. After 20 minutes we were able to screw together one side. The second issue was actually getting it to work. We watched a YouTube video several times and still didn't figure out how to get it close enough to the trim to do the job, so in the trash it went. I didn't even mess with returning it.

At the moment, my thoughts are that using this trimmer tool is faster than taping everything.It takes a bit of practice to use it properly, but it works if you don't load your brush or rush through.I usually free-hand edging and trimming with an angled brush, so using a straight-edges brush was also a change to get used to, but the instructions clearly say: DO NOT USE AN ANGLED BRUSH.I think this gadget is better than most I have tried for painting clean edges, but I'm still waiting for the perfect one to come along.

I was going to try that product as a test for trimming out my house, but the plastic broke trying to get the plastic to close around my purdy paint brush. I didn’t have any luck with this product.
