Initially, this optical splitter worked well. Unfortunately, after a few months it became flaky. Now, at least half the time when you switch inputs, the audio is all garbled. You then have to try switching it back and forth repeatedly until it finally passes a clean optical signal without constantly glitching. Note 1: I've repeatedly tried only switching inputs when everything is turned off; however, it still has the same problem half the time. In other words, the problem is definitely in the switch itself. Note 2: Be very careful of what you're actually purchasing, receiving, and reading reviews of on this page. EMK seems to have changed what they are actually selling on here... currently it's a 1x2 optical splitter but it was a 3-way optical switch (what myself and others bought from this page - see other review pics.)

A digital switch for optical cables. What’s not to love?!? Now my cable box is in Dolby Digital now as well as my Amazon Firestick! It works wonderfully. Cable into the amp, optical cables into the switcher! Boom! Clean sound all around! Thank You!!!

I liked the idea of a mechanical switch so ordered this and it works perfectly. Since there are no electronics nothing is re processed, no loss of quality, no added latency. It is larger than the electronic ones but the trade off is worth it for me.

It’s a great product and it works really well the only thing I would say it bothers me it’s that the in-line connectors has a hard time staying in constantly falls off,but other than that it’s pretty good

This is the missing piece to make my current system work as a karaoke using a mixer without losing 5.1 capability when watching T.V. instead. It is bulky, but benefits outweigh size.

It's exactly what I was looking for...and it work fine...BUT...the quality of the unit is not very good. Cheap plastic. could have been a 5 star if made with metal casing or higher quality plastic. This device is worth only $5.
