Product Description

  • 1. Pneumatic operated valve holder designed for 14mm and 18mm diameter spark plug holes, commonly found on all LS engine platforms.

  • 2. The other end is a 1/4" female NPT which can easily be connected to air hose quick connect fittings. 14mm is the standard spark plug size for most all domestic and foreign vehicles. Actual part may vary from picture.

  • 3. This tool is used when installing valve springs while the cylinder head is installed on the engine.

  • 4. Just be sure to maintain the air pressure within the cylinder while performing the spring change.

  • 5. Simply place the cylinder you are working on at top dead center, thread the tool into the spark plug hole, and fill the cylinder with compressed air.

  • 6. This tool allows the combustion chamber/cylinder to be filled with compressed air, which holds the valve closed while the valve spring is exchanged.

This worked great for my need.I had been using the overhead claw style, that is until watched a youtube video from pac springs. They pointed out that the claw style can damage springs. So i figured i might as well order this type as suggested.Overall it worked well, but i found doing two springs at once is a little more difficult to work with the retainers.A dab of grease to hold the retainers in place when installing, and ensure the springs are centered when compressing seemed to be the trickNo instructions came with this tool, i had to go back to the image to even see how to assemble it.And there was still a bit of trial and error. The tool worked great for my gm 799 heads, and the set of AFR heads that replaced them in the end.The threads were a tad sharp and slightly rough, make sure you lube them well as to not damage your heads.

Great little tool for doing valve springs on a LS. make sure you tighten the tool down before putting spring tension on to avoid pulling threads from the mounting points.

This tool worked great on my LS heads. Could be designed better but, for the money it is good.

Absolutely love this little tool. I use to replace springs one at a time and would fight to drop the keepers in. Well this tool cuts the time in half and you have so much more room to drop the keepers in.

You get what you pay for, it does the work but it needs be constantly oiled and it will wear out if you use powers tools.
