This shovel is tough, rugged and will not break. I have been digging out bamboo root balls and broke the handles of 3 wooden shovels. This one is getting absolutely abused and it doesnt show even the slightest hint of being strained. Its not lightweight, but that is not what I bought it for. Its weight also helps cut into the root balls and rhizomes. I use a steel pry bar and this shovel and got the job done.

Its a heavy duty metal spade. Not sure what else to say. Busts through thick roots no problem

Although not light, this shovel is just what I was looking for. Very sturdy! Whoever put mine together didn't tighten a couple of the nuts, and I lost one.

It is heavy, but I read previous reviews and knew it would be. I'm thinking that weight may be a good feature when I get into a heavier digging job. The minor scratches I read about on other reviews are on mine too, but would be there during normal use and not a concern for a garden tool, not a display case.
