After resisting getting a 'real' kitchen scale for entirely too long, we decided on this Escali, partially for looks. Well, this is a both a looker and a performer. The removable bowl is perfect for both weighing and for doing things like whisking eggs for pasta or dry ingredients for other baking needs. Cleans like a dream. The tare function is good, and the accuracy against known quantities is appropriate within the precision of the measuring dial. It is lightweight enough as a unit that we can drag it around our kitchen and prep area without much fuss, and the analog aspect makes us happy. Digital is not always better.

I like it. It weighs good. Good quality and not cheap feeling. When you put the top on and zero it out to get the best weight it stays at zero even after you are down weighing. After you get the idea of how to read it, it’s easy. My eyes aren’t the greatest so it could be bigger face so the numbers are bigger. It isn’t to big, but not too small.

It’s an attractive, mostly metal scale that’s as least as accurate as comparable scales and looks nice on the countertop. Required installation is unfortunately flawed by silly packaging. The assembly screws for the bracket that holds the bowl are shipped screwed into the bracket, rather than in a small bag. It’s not that they’re screwed in too tight to loosen, it’s that they’re screwed into hidden nuts and you have to (of course) stabilize the nuts with a wrench in order to unscrew the screws. The silliness of this turns into insanity in the context of absolutely no provided instructions and no provided tools.

Scale seems to work accurately. Some considerations that change this from a 5-star product to 3 stars:* Product information page indicates this is made in the USA, but the product packaging indicates it is made in China. One star off for misrepresentation. Another star off for the following issues:* Scale needs frequent re-calibration. Although it is easy to calibrate, it seems like it should stay calibrated between gentle use.* The base of the scale is made of a very thin metal with rather sharp edges. While I do not pick up the scale a lot, it is still something that the manufacturer should fix.* No instruction sheet in the box, no instructions printed on the box. Assembly and operation are not difficult, but it still seems like this is an obvious omission.

This is a replacement of my last Escali Scale. The last one was damaged badly.... hence replacement.I had my first one for about three years and used it for bread making, measuring spices and other ingredients. This is one product that really can not live with out. It works great and looks great. The bowl comes off to wash or to add ingredients to and then place back on the scale.As far as it being accurate, I feel totally confident with it weighing grams (metric) or pounds and ounces.I highly recommend this. If you like that old school look and not looking for a digital, this is great.

It’s a nice scale! It works well for its intended use in my home which is for baking, so it’s mostly got flour and sugars weighed on it but it’s perfect

I use it for baking bread and other goodies. It is a bit too light weight and the little bowl feels a bit unsteady as a result but I have had no real problems with it. I think perhaps its a kinesthetic thing....I would like it to 'feel' sturdier.
