For those times when you can't - or don't want to - run another ethernet cable or if your switch is already filled to capacity, this slick little splitter will provide the way & means.Powered by a standard USB power source (user furnished) this device allowed me to add another wired connection to my network for a printer I recently added to my office setup. The single input & two outputs actually have link & activity LEDs - so I could know at a glance (behind the printer) that it was indeed connected to our network. The small size really helped for my installation. I placed this splitter on the back of my TV to share the only ethernet cable on that side of the room with my printer. Since the TV also has a USB port, I used the TV to supply the power for this device! My days of disconnecting the ethernet cable from my TV are gone...this little splitter was my rescue. Please note that the power cable for this device is rather short (about 8" long) so it has to be located fairly close to whatever source of USB power you can implement. My TV has an 500mA max output @ 5vdc, so it powered this device with no issues. Certainly, a laptop PC could also supply the power to operate this splitter too. A reminder to myself that I need to get another one of these splitters to carry with my laptop. It's an excellent solution for the common malady of networking - no ports available. This device is small & lightweight enough to be 'zip tied' inline with the ethernet cables and still remain accessible. For the price point, it's a good value...this is a true GIGABYTE splitter, not a 10/100 fast ethernet device, making it suitable for connections where fast ethernet just won't deliver. An welcome addition to my arsenal of network gear!

This is working very well for me, no issues. In my garage I have an hdhomerun tv tuner, connecting my attic tv antenna to my home network. I got a second hdhomerun tuner to increase the number recordings which can be made/streamed at one time. This splitter made it very easy to connect the second tuner to the network. I can't quantify the actual data speeds, but there was no issue passing a total of 6 video data streams (3 per hdhomerun tuner). I monitored the power consumed by this splitter and it never exceeded 2-3watts.It's winter now, so the temperature in the garage is quite cool. Hopefully when the summer temperatures arrive this device will not have an issue. If it does, I'll certainly update this review.

Why did I get this?I prefer wired connections, I have numerous computers and things like streaming media players, fire stick with Ethernet adapter, Roku player boxes, etc.Review:It is very small, the included power cord, no power brick included, is very short like a foot so you need to place this close to an outlet OR power it with a computer through the USB port. I tried both and it worked for computers, but when I connected my Roku box which works with another Ethernet splitters but not with this one. My Roku box and fire stick didn’t detect the Ethernet from this splitter but worked with another larger 4 port splitter. I swapped the cables, power cycled the devices and even tried extra Ethernet cables and no matter what I tried the Roku and fire stick with Ethernet adapter didn’t get any wired connection from this device. The same Ethernet cable that worked with this and a computer did not work with my streaming devices.I unfortunately don’t know why that is.I don’t have Ethernet camera’s setup yet for me to test, when I do I will try and see if this works with them or not.Speed testing was not uniform I got fast speeds on one computer and slower on another it varied on another splitter I got the same speeds on both at the same time, this wasn’t the case for this product.Verdict:Okay if all you are trying to connect are Computers, if it is anything else it might not work.

This ethernet splitter Offers up to 1000 Mbps maximum throughput for each port. Both ports can work simultaneously without signal interference, ensuring smooth data transfer. However, the device doesn't amplify your network speed; the actual speed depends on your network provider. The switch is incredibly easy to set up. Just connect the router/modem to the input port, devices to the output ports, and power it via the included USB cable. No additional software or complex configurations are needed. The switch ensures clear and reliable data transmission without crosstalk or interference, making it a dependable tool for expanding network access.

Didn't get a USB cable with mine, docked a star because everyone else got one. Not a huge deal because the USB charger I used came with one. Functionally perfect. This is actually a powered 3-port gigabit switch and not really a "splitter" - that's a good thing (passive splitters don't support gigabit, so a switch is what you want). Shows up as gigabit on both machines as expected. Simple plug & play. Seems well-built, has a metal housing. Also like that it's not much bigger than it needs to be. Wife and I both have our machines plugged into it for remote work and it doesn't miss a beat.

I have a limited number of ethernet ports on my router. This makes it super easy to split the line and connect multiple devices. My kids were constantly having to switch one ethernet cable between their PS5 and gaming laptop. Now both devices have a wired connection for fast internet and gameplay. No more arguing over who has to be on wifi.
