How to tune your kalimba

You can use a real tuner or download an App.
Android system app: gStrings
Apple system app: Instuner.
2. Tune with harmmer:
Making tines longer (from the point where they are held down on the bridge) will lower their pitch, and making them shorter will make their pitch higher.
Tuning step by step:
- Open App.Pluck the key (e.g C4)
- If the pointer turns left,tune is FLAT
- If the pointer turns right,tune is SHARP
- If the pointer towards middle,IN TUNE

We have 6 kids who all love fidget toys. I have many musical instruments (guitars, handpan, cajon, ocarina and more) but I wanted something that sounded good no matter what you did. This was perfect! I did not want something super loud or big. Something I could put in a backpack on trips or have out even as a decoration.No matter what you played it sounded beautiful! My 7 year old all the way up to me fell in love with it instantly! Since they are homeschooled and get stressed out at times they tend to fidget and use toys to take a short break. I was irritated by the spinning, zipping and clicking sounds from all those toys LOL.Now they take turns while learning and today it felt like being homeschooled at the spa 😂Like I said no matter what you hit it all sounded good together. My 7yr old even rote a song using the numbers on the front using math... Go figure!I'm tempted to buy another one just for me. Like I said it is not very loud but is not super quiet either. You could still hear it over them talking. It's easy to hold even for a child and yes my husband with his big hands too! It's beautiful and I am thinking to put it on a plate stand on the side table which will be a great conversation starter for when company comes (after covid of course). Seriously though the best part is you don't need to know how to play anything to use it. Just tap away at any of the keys or combination of the keys and enjoy the music you make!It does come with a book btw to teach you a simple song and you can look up other music to play online as it uses a standard C scale. I have not tried the tuning app yet though as it came in tune.I am so glad my mom suggested this, THANKS MOM!!!

Got this for my kids but we ended up using it as well. My 11 year old likes that it is fun.He says "It can be hard to learn the songs but once you learn them, it's easy to play."But it didn't take him long to learn several songs and play the keys by memory.The set up came with a book that had certain apps they recommended for tuning your instrument which was cool.As a parent with kids learning new instruments, this is definitely a good one to have because the sound the keys in practice mode isn't painful to the ears and when they actually learn songs, it's quite enjoyable.My husband and I learned some songs too. The sound can be very soothing.We found kalimba tutorials on YouTube & even some keyboard tutorials were also useful.We got this as a Christmas gift for the kids. We initially wanted to get them a keyboard but they were out of our price range.I'm very happy with this purchase

I have never tried a kalimba before so I really have nothing to reference it too buy so far I am really enjoying playing this one. Some of the higher notes are a bit harder to play/hear but I wonder if it needs to be broken in a bit more. Regardless, everything that comes in this set is very handy to have to care for and keep the instrument and tools safe. The little music book is fun to try out as well but I also find that learning songs by ear has been a blast.Very glad I went with this set, I love the color and look of the kalimba and the accessories and instructions that come with are well written and great for anyone starting out.

THE START- This is a fun little, different instrumentTHE GOOD- The sound is soothing!- Really not hard to learn how to play, especially if there is any background in music theory- Comes with a little book to jump start on some songs and music theory behind the instrumentTHE BAD- The size was a little bigger than expecting, so be sure to look at the dimensions carefully- One of the notes was out of tune when I received it, so I had to adjust it quick. Not terribly hard, just had to push the bar in a little bit.- The higher notes really don't resonate well...they sort of just "click" and dull out quickly. So expect to stick to the middle, lower, more tonal notesTHE END- With my understanding of music, it is a fun toy to add to the collection. Don't expect the greatest thing in the world,. but don't expect the worst!

This is a great beginner/ intermediate kalimba. Very nice sound and the accessories it comes with are great.

It's cute, it came in its own little carrying box and all sorts of gadgets.. I have a problem you see.. I get on this app and I scroll and roughly around midnight I start making strange purchases.. and this was one of them. Have awake and half asleep.. I'm like ooohh I'm gonna buy that and play it! When it arrives.. I'm like ooohh.. I don't know how to play it. Lol 🤣🤣 some YouTube videos later.. I'm playing the sound of silence.. and that's as far as I've gotten people.. I don't know how to tune it or anything else. I couldn't tell you if it sounds right or it doesn't.. because I'm not musically inclined!!! I've got zero talent! But with enough YouTube videos I may get somewhere. Either way it's cute. And makes a pretty noise. Kinda like an old school music box.

I am not talking some kind of monstrous nails but you really need some length in your thumbnails.You may want to research this. I got it as a gift for someone and they struggled a bit at first not knowingthat you need to have some nails to play it.It makes beautiful sounds and this particular is really cute sounding one.It is good start before moving to the Chinese pan drum which they also sale on amazon.If you look up Pipa Language, Peaceful Chinese Music on Tank Drum /Steel Tongue Drum- April Yang Coverthey sell this thing that drum on amazon and this sound is really amazing. The same musicianhas a video playing on this instrument sold here too. Well worth the time.

Es evidente que el material de la madera es de baja calidad sin embargo no interfiere con la resonancia del sonido. Es muy fácil de entender y de acomodarse a tus manos. Pensé que no venÃa incluido el martillo para afinar el instrumento sin embargo estaba escondido dentro del estuche. Le doy puntos extra por todo el paquete que incluye dentro del estuche.
