I purchased the FAREVER Large Cat Door for one of my interior doors, and I couldn’t be happier with it! The cats like it, so that's what matters most. But it's not great for extreme conditions. The material appears to hold up, but there are gaps in the construction. Where I joined the pieces together, I filled that space with caulk, and it sealed nicely. But as you can see in the pic, there's a gap on the right where the door meets the jam where you can see light between the jam and the weatherstripping. But the worst part is at the top. There is no weatherstripping up there, and there's a bigger gap between the top of the flap and jam. I had a significant breeze blowing through. And when it's -5 out, you tend to notice that! I took some pipe insulation, cut it in half, and taped a piece to the outside and another to the inside. Obviously the cold air can still flow through, but it's no longer a breeze. Because of the freedom needed on the sides, I can't do this same trick to cover that gap (luckily it's smaller). Also, straight out of the box, I had difficulty opening the door in one direction. I had to slightly trim down the weatherstripping where it met the lock. That fixed the opening issue (without compromising the seal at that spot). If you need something hermetically sealed, obviously you'll go with a different option. I was just expecting something with a better seal.
