Installation:

Just received my kit yesterday. Includes inserts, drill bit, tap and installation tool. I had a question about the tap threads not matching the insert threads so I sent E-Z Lok an email. Within 24 hours they replied with an explanation and I was ready to give it a try. Just finished installing the first of many in a project I'm working on and the install was a breeze. Drilled clean, tapped easily and the insert threaded in securely. I wanted to make double sure of the longevity so added a bit of two-part epoxy to the threads and I'm certain it will hold well. I like that they have different inserts for soft wood vs. hard wood, most home centers give you one choice, take it or leave it. After purchasing the kit this first go-around, I will only need inserts in the future. Really like what I see and the customer service experience was great. Would recommend the product and the company.

I was able to use these to reattach a tabletop to its base since the old method was screwing directly into the table.

I'm new to this type of product so I struggled a bit with the whole process. I found it really annoying that I needed additional tools (handle for the tap). Lucky for me I was able to find multiple videos on how to use these. Other reviewers have nailed all the important points. Drilling in at a perfect 90 degree angle is a lot easier with a drill press. A center tap on the bit would increase accuracy. And the price seems high, especially considering you need to buy an extra tool. But once you get past the initial investments, the price drops considerably for additional inserts.

I have used this brand before and have always been satisfied. The product is very well made. I insert them into my wood-turned handles for my pizza cutters. Don't be afraid to order these from this seller.

I like these fasteners, be aware, while they work great, without the included tool and the correct size drill/tap ( also included in this kit), they can be very difficult to insert straight, luckily with the aforementioned included parts they are much easier to install, provided you can drill and tap a straight hole. One thing I will say is that, at $40 dollars for the installation tool, a single drill bit and a single tap, and 10 of the fasteners.... we're at a pretty unreasonable price point which has been one of the things that has kept me from using this brand in the past, but if you can stomach that first one time cost, and not break your drill bit or tap, the price for subsequent uses definitely drops. That said I still don't really thing the slight difference in design justifies using these for most cases where you could also use the simpler style of insert nuts that are conical in shape and just have straight barbs coming out from the side to retain them, they both work quite similarly, and the other style is easier to install (and far cheaper).

Very happy with the quality of the product - there's certainly cheaper here and elsewhere, but you get what you pay for. If you have a project that will be subject to repeat disassembly then this is totally worth it.
