I bought a cheap Fender Squier P bass recently but it just didn't sound great. Obviously I couldn't blame it because I purchased it so cheaply but wondered if I could just install some higher end pickups to help the tone. I am very happy I did because these sound incredible in comparison to the stock pickups. The sound is much warmer and full bodied. Previously I had to keep the tone knob all the way back because the treble sounded terrible but now it is my favorite tone on the guitar. Now after some setup work and these pickups my cheap bass plays and sounds like a dream. Makes me want to try buying more cheap guitars for pickup swaps.

Put this in an AVRI 62 P-bass as I had read it had a touch more top and bottom compared to the 62 original pickup. I'd say the tone description of 6-4-6 (bass, mid, treble) to the 5-5-4 of the 62 original is accurate. It's not a massive difference but it was enough to give me what I'm looking for. Nice and solid sound. Easy installation.

Putting this in my bass (2010 Mexican made Standard Precision Bass) along with some new pots changed everything. This bass is now a blast to play and sounds great.

I swapped out my MIM stock player series PBass pickups with these. The D string is so faint. The output of the D vs. the other stings very very low. I tested all the connections and everything was in order. I know how to install them and setup my bass pretty well. I went back and reinstalled my old pickups and they did not have this issue. Maybe the magnets are bad? IDK. Just really frustrating because I was looking forward to this upgrade. Saw a lot of great videos on YouTube.

Sounds awesome!Check your instrument: not all Fender split-coil pickups are split in the same direction. My Fender Squier split-coil was backwards, but a custom guitar shop had no problem making this one work in mine.

I have a 70's P Bass, and have tried several pickups over the years, including the originals, EMG's, Lindy Fralin's, and now these '62 Fender Custom Shop. This is finally the sound I've always wanted. I'm not sure what the usual descriptors mean to others, but this sound is rich and distinct, with loads of character, and thumps, pops, and growls when you want it to. Love it! Deep without being boomy. I used the standard P-bass wiring rather than the wiring in the instructions, and it sounds so great that I will just leave it like that. Extremely happy!

I have both 62 original and 62 custom shop. I like this better overal because the original 62 is really a vintage sound I notice with less treble. So, Its good for classic rock but not for modern music. I find the custom shop to be more versatile because it has more mids and treble. If you want vintage sound go with 62 original because its more scooped mid. But, versatility can play vintage and modern go with custom shop.

The construction quality of these is very good. They have vintage correct and easy to use pushback solid core wire. Installation was easy, with no need to use a separate pickup height foam insert as these include a brass shielding plate with attached foam. The only problem is that I did not like the sound of them. I love the sound of standard Fender P Bass pickups and thought these would be a step up. Instead they sound very "scooped", with lots of bass and treble but no middle, a hollow sound I do not like.

I removed a set of EMG Geezer Butler pups and dropped in these Fender CS ‘62s. This is exactly the sound I was wanting! Irrespective of which amp I run the P Bass through, the thick growly sound is at the forefront. No regrets. I have Custom ‘60s in my J Bass which are deeply warm and smooth

This pickup sounds good. Really good. Just like it should. You want "that" sound, it's right here.
