Festool sanding pads are designed as carefully as every other component for optimum performance and a long life. All of our pads are designed with dust extraction as a primary consideration, so you'll work cleaner, produce a better finish and significantly extend the life of your abrasives and pads. Festool pads feature the StickFix hook and loop design for quick and efficient abrasive changes, and enable re-use of partially used abrasives. A highly-resilient, heat-resistant MPE foam is utilized in all our pads for consistent finishing results, uniform wearing, and extended pad life. Because sanding pads will eventually fatigue and require replacement, it is advisable to keep a fresh pad at hand to avoid a break in work. Includes 1 sanding pad. Made in Germany.

I love my festool and this a great soft pad THAT YOU ATTACH TO your festool then attach your sandpaper. I see too many reviews with angry people saying they had to remove the piece that comes with the festool sander. Yikes. Don't do that. It attaches by hool and loop (see my photo) then you have the soft backing. If you need more than that then you can get go to surfpreps website and they have all of their accessories for this festool RTS 400 for more of a sponge soft back which is great because I'm not buying one of those when festool is superior. When I was ready to upgrade to the big girl sander I was torn between festool and the surfprep that I was seeing all over YouTube then i realized I could buy stuff those pads from surfprep (you can look up about any make and style of sander and they make a match for you) That's when I realized that for the price of one of those sanders (they might not be so high if they weren't sponsoring every single furniture flipping diyer on YT) I could buy a festool sander and dust vac for the same price with the nice systainer (i have 2 festool sanders and you really can't beat the quality or the brilliant thought into organization that comes with every tool)Its truly dustless sanding (I sand furniture indoors so I know what I'm talking about) so when you get this just be sure you attach it easily and don't remove anything permanent. Love this!! Love Festool!

For many years of using this sander I was never a big fan of it. But after putting this pad on it what a difference!!! Before this sander would be hard to manage to keep flat on the project. Now it glides like butter. It made this sander my favorite sander from being the worst. I highly recommend this pad.

Just received the festool rts 400 so I haven’t used it yet. The reason for my purchase was to protect the baseplate on the sander when in use. Better to wear this replaceable pad out than the more expensive baseplate. Since festool brand is so inexpensive!

The original sanding pad that came with my Festool sander was permanently affixed to a plastic backing that snaps onto the sander. This pad lacks that plastic backing, so there is no way to affix it to the sander.I saved the original pad and have removed and cleaned the glue off it. I will have to find a suitable adhesive to glue this new pad onto the old plastic backing. Otherwise, there is no way to mount this pad to the sander.
