I would have preferred the part to have a metal frame

Seems like it's good quality mat, no different than more expensive mat I've bought from name brand stores.Usable and good. I like it.

Fibre glast has been entering products into the vine program lately and I am -loving- it. I’ve been using fibre glast products for decades. They are consistently good and drama free. This is the chopped strand mat that you saturate with resin. The other techniques include blowing chopped strands into the mold, using woven cloth, etc. There are lots of videos out there showing how to use it. To be honest about it – this is the stuff that I like for repairs. Pretty much the same process – saturate it with resin, get it positioned, pump it down (sometimes), and wait. For new things, I’m loving carbon fiber because it’s strong and pretty. No one ever accused chopped fiber of being pretty.

I’m repairing my older fiberglass-hull powerboat and have a few repairs to make. I got this to ensure that my repairs are strong and will last. This fabric can be used with polyester or vinyl resin – but not compatible with epoxy glue.Simply figure out the area you’re going to fill or reinforce, cut a piece of the mat to size with scissors, spread some resin in the gap or over the area, press the fiberglass to it, and cover with more resin which will harden and be sandable. Works well.
