Spikes are wedge shaped so it doesn’t stay in the log long enough to actually finish the chain. Works ok on sub 20†chains but half our saws are longer so we threw it away pretty quick.

New version of this tool is much better. Other reviews say the threads are not finished or rough. No problem with the threads on this vice. The metal is of good quality and rhe casting is clean. Paint is ok not the best but it's going to come off with use. Very nice would buy again.

Overall the item is good. The knurled knob is a big plus versus the typical flat guitar tuning style tabs. The enamel paint is not 100% consistent in coating. Some areas are lighter in coverage and a couple of places where the paint is missing. But heck that's what a can of enamel paint is for to redress the tool. Does what it's supposed to do and that is securely hold the chainsaw bar.

I usually say cheap things are not good and good things are not cheap. This product proved me wrong. Built solid and very functional. Don't water your money on those expensive brand names.

Well made product. I have used it several times and looks to be built to last. I especially like the large screw head knob. Makes tightening and loosening the bar holder screw easy - no need for tools.

Not to be nitpicky, but there's not much to this thing and they gave no design consideration to a couple of real basic spots.- The clamp is sharp and will scratch the heck out of your bar. Take a file to it before first use.- Whatever you use to drive it into the stump is going to immediately take all the paint off the top. (It's not something I bought to show off at parties, I don't care if it looks nice, but why paint that part? If the paint is meant to help protect against the elements, it's going to fail at that.)- Maybe not the best design for the spikes. Comes loose easily if you only drive it part way, and if you drive it all the way it's tough to get out.All are very minor complaints, though. Is it a useful tool? Absolutely. Would I buy it again? You bet. Is it well designed and well put together? Not really.
