I have an old CD-ROM enclosure that has only Firewire ports on the back. Rather than buy a new enclosure (since none of my current computers have Firewire inputs, I ordered this cable to convert firewire to USB. Unfortunately, it failed 100%. No device--laptop or desktop--will read a CD put into the enclosure when connected using this cable.
