These arrived in BRK boxes, not First Alert. However, I checked the First Alert website and confirmed that they are the same, except that BRK is marketed to contractors, not homeowners. No adapters were provided to simplify the transition from Kidde. I'm guessing contractors don't use adapters, and you really shouldn't either, but this does require that you shut off power before twisting the wires together. If you would prefer to use adapters, buy from someone else like Costco to make sure you get the First Alert packaging, which should include adapters based on my experience with their smoke/CO alarms.Batteries were included although I didn't notice them right away.Programming room location with First Alert is awkward in general, but I eventually figured it out. Tips: 1. know that "press and hold" actually means "press for about a second but not longer", and 2. finish programming before you install in your ceiling so you can easily restart by disconnecting the battery pack. YouTube has other tips like pressing 5 times while standing on one leg but hopefully it won't come to that.

Easy to install, like that it speaks where the area that’s effected. Looks nice on the wall also.

I replaced all 8 of my end-of-life ionization smoke alarms with this photoelectric model because I was trying to stop false alarms from cooking. Now instead I'm getting false alarms completely at random.Apparently photoelectric smoke detecters need to be cleaned monthly using a vacuum cleaner. This is to prevent false alarms caused by dust and insects getting inside the unit. They supposedly change how the LED blinks when they need to be cleaned. But even so, I started getting false alarms less than a month after installing them. I've had two units set the whole system off with no warning from the LEDs.My advice: skip the photoelectric smoke alarms and opt for ionization instead. It's much better to have a predictable false alarm from cooking than one that happens at random.I want my money back, but I'm past the return window, so it looks like I'm SOL!

This smoke alarm is a solid choice. The voice alerts are really helpful, and the battery backup gives extra peace of mind during power outages. It was easy to install and interconnected smoothly with my other alarms. It feels reliable and well-built. Definitely recommend for anyone upgrading their home safety system.
