I'm deaf without my hearing aid and cochlear implant processor. I have a service dog since sleeping through a fire alarm at a hotel. He's good, but practicing fire alarms is difficult. I installed these in the bedrooms in my home and the tv room. The flash would definitely wake me even in the daytime.

Very easy to install and only took a few minutes to do. The flashing light is adequate enough to alert you of any danger when you are sleeping or just can’t hear. A lifesaver for the deaf and hard of hearing community.

I wanted a detector with a strobe for some family members that are hard of hearing.Annoying part is having to have these hard wired. I did have some rewiring done and was able to have these hardwired and linked together in my house. When they do alert, the strobe light can definitely raise the stress level as it is different from the regular just beeping. But it does its job.If you are electrical savvy and want to add one to someone's house that cannot hear, you can use the connectors provided and splice it to an appropriately rated cord with a plug and plug it into the wall.Only 4 stars because of the price.

The flashing strobe light and alarm is great. I’m hearing impaired and it would wake me up. But I believe all bedrooms should have one of these even if you’re not hearing impaired. It’s extra insurance if a situation happens while sleeping.

I am hearing impaired and need the smoke detector to provide a visual warning. This device fulfills my requirements but does not last very long. It is supposed to have a 10 year lifespan but I’m on my 3rd detector in less than 6 years. They have started chirping indicating an end of life condition and need to be replaced. Thanks to my husband he heard the failure warning and replaced the detector.

Wife got cochlear implants so basically deaf at night, this detector is a great answer to alerting her. The flashing light is almost blinding, works fantastically

This unit plugged right in to the existing, hard wired, smoke detector. Just unplugged the old one, plugged this one in, and snapped it into the existing holder. Flashing light is bright enough to wake a person that cannot hear the alarm. This one, or one with the same flashing light feature is a must for anyone using hearing aids.
