The fish lippers are a good quality. I love the scales so you can see exactly how much your next personal best catch weighs! Being able to use a lip gripper is very nice when fishing salt water. Those fish have sharp teeth! Unless it is a really large fish, this is a safer way to handle it for both you and the fish. For larger fish, always support the abdomen when handling. This is very handy when removing your hook, especially if you have a helper.

The gripper part of this instrument is really good. The only fault I have with it is it doesn’t seem to want to weigh anything unless it’s really heavy. I fish where there’s huge catfish but when weighing my catch if it weighs 2 pounds to 4 pounds it does not show on the scales.

Any fisherman worth their salt knows the feeling of a hook that's buried in their hand when trying to remove a hook from a flailing fish. There's a sense of dread every time you reach for that treble hook while one hand is holding onto the fish's lip. With this tool, you can remove hooks worry free. With its one handed use design, just lift the line with one hand, grip the lips to secure the fish, and then take out the hook with pliers using your other hand. It even comes with a convenient sheath that has a spot for a pair of fish pliers or other tool. The gripper is really well made with what appears to be machined aluminum. The grip is rubber, and the trigger to open the grip is easy to pull and everything operates very smoothly. After testing the weight with a few different weighted items, it's pretty darn accurate. On top of all of that, it comes with a lanyard/carabiner so you can attach it to your life jacket and have it at the ready.

Definitely a well built and heavy duty fish lip grabber.I have a smaller fish lip grabber that requires pulling a collar while holding the handle and it is not the easiest thing to do when trying to quickly get hold of a flipping fish on a 2 lb line. This design is ergonomically better and very easy to hold and pull the jaws apart with an easy action. No sharp edges for the angler or the fish.In my case the fish scale is pretty useless since most of my catches wouldn't pull the gauge open more than 1/8" or so. The scale pulls out about 1mm per pound so a 2 lb fish will only pull out a bit over 1/16". It measures about 11-7/8" long. The grabber is fairly light weight and comes with a sheath emblazoned with "FISHING TACKLE" so you won't get confused and think it is something else.It seems a bit pricey, but if it can handle a 40lb fish, then it is probably worth it.

This thing is HEAVY DUTY. It is a VERY strong fish gripper, far more so than what I generally find commercially available, and comes with a carabiner attached to an elastic extension so you can use it quickly without needing to worry about losing it in the water. The trigger is reliable and effective. The mouth closes firm but but flush so as not to cut the fishes mouth. Fairly long to allow you to reach out, but also provides additional leverage. Comes with an additional carrying case that slides into your bag. GREAT addition to any tackle bag.

This is a good fish gripper for bass. It's all metal, the mechanism solidly locks. However the smooth metal doesn't provide any grip. The lever has hard edges reducing finger comfort. And I don't trust the scale, not with the first graduation being vaguely 1/2lb.Overall, could be better in a lot of ways for creature comforts, and a scale that gives more confidence. But all in all, it's not bad at all.

I have used the old style lib grabber and while it works fine I saw this and thought I would give it a try here is my reviewPros:1. very well made and will hold up2. the new design with a trigger I found more comfortable and easier to use3. the built in spring scale is a nice feature so you can lift the fish up and weigh it at the same time4. comes with a really nice case although I can't see keeping it in a case while actually fishingcon:1. the only con which is not a big deal is the lanyard is pretty wimpy and there is no way I would trust it to keep it secure to what ever you clip it toconclusion:this new design fish holder is a winner and will not disappoint

The materials and craftsmanship of this are awesome. It seems very durable, made of quality materials, and has operates smoothly. It's made of all metal, don't see any plastic components other than the lanyard and grip, so I don't think it's going to fall apart after three weeks. There is some sort of protective coating on the metal, so hopefully will hold up to saltwater / salty air. The claw opens easily and smoothly and takes an expected amount of pressure to use. The scale was accurate on everything I tested so far (heaviest test weight was 12lbs). It comes with a nice holster/case with belt loop and a convenient plier pocket on the front. The corded lanyard is a nice addition as well, seems to be of good quality. Overall great value, great item.
