My first issue was that the belt buckle was too wide for my standard fishing shorts. However, the belt itself was quite nice, well made and was perfect for attaching my fishing equipment to. It's a decently heavy fabric weight and clips are very solid so it holds everything with ease. Other than not fitting my pant loop I really like it and it will be quite useful for my fishing trips.

I have owned two “real†surf casting belts for a few years, and can assure you that those both are wider and much stiffer than this. In fact one is actually a dive belt, and one was made from high quality webbing to which I added a good dive belt buckle.This is probably okay for carrying light weight tools and accessories if you are freshwater fishing, but for that I use a good bag or tacklebox. When I’m casting from the beach, I try to stay pretty mobile, and it takes a good belt to support my gear PLUS suspenders.This might serve a kid with just a few items, but even then a better belt would make things more comfortable. All this will accomplish is making you wish for better equipment.
