About this item

  • Current clamp is based on hall effect technology
  • Use in measurement of both DC and AC current
  • it may be used in conjunction with oscilloscopes and other suitable recording instruments for accurate non-intrusive current measurement
  • 1.4" Crest factor
  • 100 mV/A output sensitivity

The i30s current clamp is based on hall effect technology for use in measurement of both DC and AC current. The i30s may be used in conjunction with oscilloscopes and other suitable recording instruments for accurate non-intrusive current measurement. Specified current range: 30 mA to 30A DC, 30 mA to 20 A AC rms. Usable current range: 5 mA to 30 A DC, 30 mA to 20 A AC rms. Crest factor: 1.4". Output sensitivity: 100 mV/A. Accuracy (at +25 degree C): +/-1 percent of reading +/-2 mA. Resolution: +/-1 mA. Load impedance: greater than 100 kilo ohm. Conductor position sensitivity: +/-1 percent relative to center reading. Frequency range: DC to 100 kHz (- 0.5 dB). Phase shift below 1 kHz: less than 2 degrees. Temperature coefficient: +/-0.01 percent of reading/degree C. Power supply: 9 V Alkaline, MN1604/PP3, 30 hours, low battery indicator. Working voltage (see Safety Standards section): 300 V AC rms or DC. Maximum conductor size: 19mm diameter. Output connection: Safety BNC connector, supplied with safety 4mm adapter. Output zero: Manual adjust via thumbwheel. Cable length: 2 meters. Operating temperature range: 0 to +50 degree C. Storage temperature range (with battery removed): -20 to +85 degree C. Operating humidity: 15 to 85 percent (non-condensing). Safety standards: BS EN 61010-1: 2001, BS EN 61010-2-032: 2002, BS EN 61010-031: 2002, 300 Vrms, Category III, Pollution Degree 2, Use of the probe on uninsulated conductors is limited to 300 V AC RMS or dc and frequencies below 1 kHz. EMC Standards: EN 61326: 1998 +A1, A2, and A3. Measures 71mm width by 183mm height by 25mm depth.

Works perfect for parasitic draw on autos if using lab scope

I thought, for over $500, this would be new and in pristine condition. Besides the damaged packaging, I know it was used because someone put the battery in it. Fluke never ships devices with the batteries inserted in their test equipment.

Only quality clamp I found that might be plugged into an oscilloscope or multimeter and that was useful both below 1A and up to 450A (DC).

Comparing to other brands, this one showed too many large spikes in current that were unreal (verified by hardware). Given the fact that others were all 100kHz+ bandwidth and this one is claimed to be 20kHz, perhaps it is not a bad deal overall. Even at 0 current, the baseband noise is significant comparatively. Can't recommend it for R&D.

I am using this on a DVM and an Oscilloscope. Very Accurate and handy.
