I have a 2008 Ford F 150. For some reason the brake lights would not shut off even though the lights were off and the vehicle was turned off. The cruse control stopped working at the same time that the brake lights stayed on. Did some internet research. Found that a faulty brake light switch could be the problem. I figured that $20 on a switch was worth investing to see if it solved the problem. Easy to change out. Brake lights now are off when they are supposed to be and the cruse control now started working again! It has only been 1 week so I can not speak for the durability of the switch yet.

Been having problems with the cruise control on my 2006 f150 King Ranch.. Brake lights wouldn't come on until the peddle was pushed in about three inches and sometimes when the cruise didn't work i could do a hard stop then take my foot and pickup on the brake peddle then the cruise would work until a normal stop.. Motor Craft was $80.00 this was $20.00.. Installed this switch Tested it in the drive way barely touched the brake peddle ..We Got Brake Lights ! later that evening the Texas temperature dropped down 102 degrees in the shade to 98 degrees went driving to tested the cruise it didn't work ... OK whats the deal? I'm a master mechanic .. looked at the dash and the parking brake indicator lamp was on and i realized that I had accidentally push the peddle in about a 1/4" when installing the brake switch ..release the brake .... all works perfect... note: took the original apart and cleaned contact and put it back together keeping it for a spare because we don't know how long this one will last! I give myself 3 stars for not fixing it sooner and the parking brake thing.. hope this was helpful! Got to replace the master window control now! windows want come up ..just in case it rain Lord know we need it .
