Weight and balance is good on this tool, and it feels like it is going to hold up well too. I sharpened the edges a little bit, as they were pretty crudely ground from the factory. It chips through dense soil with ease, and is great for squaring up holes.

This tool comes unassembled. I had to put the head on and hammer into place. The weight and feel of the tool is great. Perfect weight to dig holes and loosen soil. Very manageable and a tool every gardeners should have. Do not expect it to be used for big jobs. It is perfect for small jobs and is super handy. My only complaint would be that I wished the tool came assembled and had a screw or pin in place so the head can’t be loosened off. If digging really hard soil with rocks the head can come loose.. I like that the pick side is narrow and really helps me carefully dig out rocks. Great for careful digging around pipes. Gives better precision then full size mattock. hopefully tool lasts a long time.

First I purchased the Fiskars Pro IsoCore Pick/Mattock - 1.5 lb Pick, which is bigger, heavier and better built, but it IS heavier and my hand gets tired just from swinging it! This pick axe is exactly half the weight and half the price, and is the tool that I use all the time. I have done about 30 x 4 ft natural stone patio so far using it to dig the holes and as leverage to lift and rotate very heavy stones. The handle wobbles a bit but it doesn't affect it's operation. Before I got it, I was using a stainless steel gardening tool that broke.The metal of the pick seems very strong. It's been sitting outside for a couple of months and there is no rust so far.

I have used this pick for about 4 years to do small excavations around my property and it is still holding up well. It works much better than my old go to of a claw hammer.

I like the size and purpose of the tool, but to me it felt like the circumference of the handle was a bit small. I might wrap it wit grip tape to make it feel easier to hold.

Perfect for gardening. Not too heavy, easy to operate and for digging. Must push hard to assemble tight to prevent top section from getting loose. During this process handle gets dark stains from metallic material at the top.
