1.Size:Set Of 5 Calibers

  • NECK TENSION GAUGE - Inspection tool to quickly and accurately screen/sort a batch of brass before your bullet seating operation
  • EXACT NECK TENSION - Each NTG provides reloaders with the information needed to create exacting neck tensions during the bullet seating operation.
  • DETERMINE INSIDE NECK DIAMETER - Use after case neck sizing and before bullet seating to help determine optimal inside neck diameter for consistent release of a bullet from your reloaded rounds. Allows for inspection of the inside diameters of case necks to be sure a “donut” has not formed at the neck-shoulder junction.
  • EASY-TO-USE - Simply insert the stepped end of the tool into the neck of your sized case, sliding it in until one of the diameters achieves a slip fit in the case neck. Use the resulting value to fine-tune your case preparation.
  • 308 CALIBER - Contains four stepped diameters measuring 0.3040, 0.3050, 0.3060, and 0.3070 inches.

The the Neck Tension Gage (NTG) as an inspection tool to quickly and accurately screen/sort a batch of brass before your bullet seating operation. Each NTG provides reloaders with the information needed to create exacting neck tensions during the bullet seating operation. Each Neck Tension Gage (NTG) Inspection Tool consists of four stepped diameters that increase in size until reaching the handle. Each diameter is etched on the metal tool. Simply insert the stepped end of the tool into the neck of your sized case, sliding it in until one of the diameters achieves a slip fit in the case neck. Use the resulting value to fine-tune your case preparation.

For this precision reloader who experiments with different brands of brass, neck turning, different sizing dies and neck-shoulder bushings, and different diameters of neck-expanding mandrels, this dead-solid and accurate tool is super-handy and nearly indispensable for quickly verifying finished inside case-neck diameter. It's easy to interpolate by feel between the .001" cylinders by how easily a case slips over the last one before stopping, so you can estimate case ID to the nearest .0005". Note that this tool is best for measuring case necks that have been both re-sized and expanded. Re-sized but unexpanded necks (before expanding with a mandrel, for example) are sometimes too small in diameter to pass even the smallest diameter on the tool. This tool comes package in a very cool, spiral-locking, clear plastic case.

I had never heard about this tool from Forster and thought I would give it a try. It turns out to be a tool I will use every time I load a batch of target rifle rounds. After I run the case through the resize die, it makes a very quick way to verify the amount of neck tension that will be applied to the bullet during the seating operation. I highly recommend this tool to folks that want to verify their sizing operation.

I have whole set plus just bought the latest .277. This the easiest, most consistent tool for determining neck tension. You can change neck bushings to get exactly the tension you want. Worth every penny.
