Great piece of audio equipment. Solid build with excellent output results. Better than other low price preamps with options only found on other hi end amps. You won’t regret this purchase.

Was using the internal preamp in my Denon 6700, 6800 and Marantz SR8015. These are $3500 to $4000 receivers, I only point this out to state the benefit to a cheaper receiver should be far greater than I am getting. Running two tables, one with a Ortofon Black and the other a Ortofon Black LVB 250. The mids and highs were much better and bass was tighter. DO MESS WITH GAIN. I had mine set to the highest MM gain, not good, no bass, then I set it at the lowest MM gain and WOW,for the price it's amazing. Equal to or better than $500 external preamp I have had.

So i'm not sure if this made an improvement in my setup or not BUT it works. So I'll give it 5 stars as the price is basically $100. I'm using this with an AT-LP60x currently (which has a built in pre-amp). I bought this for my new Fluance RT85n that is coming. This arrived first, decided to try it out. It works. I mean not much to it. It sounds good. I'm not an audiophile but i've heard some good things about it. BUT that also makes me wonder if the videos I saw were all PAID SPONSORSHIPS. If this thing is so amazing, where are all the reviews? I'll throw in 5 stars and if it stops working change my rating. But so far a few hours in and she's working as advertised. The power plug COULD be longer though. It's actually NOT that long. They give you a few inches for the AC plug before it gets to the brick and then another few feet of power cord. JUST enough that the brick can sit on the ground and my pre-amp sits on my table. We're talking a bar-top table here so it's not like it's up on a high shelf. A bit longer cord would have been nice!

Bought this when my ifi phono 3 decided to stop working. Originally bought it as a stop gap until I could figure out what stupid money I wanted to pay to replace the iphono3. I have a VPI Scout and a Ortofon Black cartridge, so I figured I'd hear limitations of this "cheap" preamp.I am amazed. My hearing may not be as good as it used to be, but gosh darn, this sounds amazing. I have no hiss, no hum. Music shoots out of the speakers from an inky black background!! On par with the phono 3? Maybe, I dunno. But I'm enjoying spinning records, and that's really the point, isn't it?UPDATE: well, it was too good to be true. The right channel went out and this is now a hunk of junk. Buyer beware. Apparently the QC at Fosi ain’t great.

Mine was DOA. No output to preamp and I tried two different ones. Order different phono pre amp and it works great.

I don’t often play records but I do cherish them as they’ve been with me for over 45 years. Although many of them have been digitally remastered and sound so much better ( I know that’s heresy to vinyl die hards ) there are some that have not been and those especially are important to me. Out of curiosity after reading a glowing review in an invaluable source known as Audio science review.com that has real objective measurements I was curious to hear how a phono stage compared to a very hyped tube phono stage that costs 35 times the price of the Fosi Audio box X5 !! I’m also going to make another heretical statement. No amplifier should have a sonic signature instead it should be as neutral or as transparent as possible. For those who claims to hear the great differences and churn out syrupy prose over the oral delights emanating from their speakers via the amp well good for you. It’s an impossible argument. That being said I didn’t miss the brief period of time needed for my tube preamp to warm as the little solid state mighty mite was ready to go at the press of a button. I then preceded to do a very subjective review of both phono stages. Well wouldn’t you know it not only did I not have to unplug some other components to stop the noisy RFI but outside of what sounded to be slightly deeper bass there was virtually no difference. For a little over $100 and with the promise of simple solid state reliability I couldn’t be happier. Finally no more changing of tubes and biasing them is also another positive. The only thing holding it back from 5 stars is the long term reliability and unfortunately that awful RFI is back so that’s an unsolvable quirk. So what are you waiting for ? Give it a go and maybe if you’re like me you can sell your very expensive phono stage and use that money for buying maybe more records ?

I made a decision and purchase these almost a month ago and have to report I am very pleased. I only use them for music. I purchased the Fosi Amp (BT30D PRO 165Wx2 +350W TPA3255 2.1 CH Bluetooth 5.0), Fosi phono amp (Box X5 Phono Preamp) and a ATLP120XBTUSB turntable. The music is pure and pleasurable. I like all types of music from classical to Jazz to even a little hip hop. The last leg on this was I purchased a passive subwoofer (Dayton MKSX4). I am quite pleased from beginning to end and hope this lasts for years to come. I highly recommend all the components that I've purchased. And yes I stream music as well from my little Apple iPod and it all works out fine.

RT-82 connected to Onkyo-8220 which has a phono input. The output from the speakers was low. Had to really crank the dial. Added X5 preamp and noted significant change to the sound. Been using this for a couple weeks now. Setup was easy.

WOW!! Totally upped my audio game!! I moved up from the Fosi Audio box X2.. I thought the X2 was very good.... Now, this box blows it out of the water!! I can't believe how much the sound stage has opened up and widened.. And the power behind the music has increased to a point where the music is all around. I seriously didn't know what to expect, but I am extremely happy with this purchase. Brought my music to life with a vibrancy I haven't heard before on my setup.

Ther item seems well constucted.I like the fact that it can hancle MM and MC cartridges. It absolutely adds richness to my record player. However, I do not like the placement of the knob to select the gain. It is between the two sets of RCA cables and this makes it difficult to change the selection. If you never plan to change the gain, then his would not be an issue.

At first this preamp sounded pretty good and I was satisfied overall. After two weeks, it fully gave out. At first, my right speaker stopped playing, and after a minute or so everything went out. Fosi is trying to make well-rounded units for a good price, but the QC is lacking as another reviewer had the exact same issue as mine.
