Giving older used turntable as a gift and don't want to assume user has a receiver with a phono input. In testing this lower cost phono pre-amp worked well. Solid metal case, volume control, on-off button, and headphone plug are good options.

It may be in the low cost category, but it brought my (phono) record player back to live with absolutely clean sound on my JVC HX-Z3 in any of the sound modes. One of the things that is not mentioned in the description is that the volume control does adjust the RCA output, that was important for me. That way I do not have to fiddle with Z3 volume while I switch inputs. Watch for that, a lot of other low cost units adjust only the headset output. And I love the on/off button. Unless you are a audiophile I can highly recommend this unit.
