Nicely packaged steel (attracts magnet) framing jig. As shown in the photos, it is around the 12" spacing needed for certain types of framing.Feels powdercoated to resist corrosion and should last a long time. Unlike others I have seen, this is made of steel, checked by using a magnet.Simple idea, but brilliant. Wish I had found this years ago, but it will get good use going forward.

This layout jig is best suited to smaller 2x lumber (i.e. 2x4 and 2x6 stock). I tested the 12†tool, which lays out the perpendicular lumber with 12†on-center spacing. It’s designed to allow screw/nail installation in obvious locations. The fit of this jig could perhaps be a *little* more snug, but as-is the lumber is kept in place pretty well. The tool is well-built without being too heavy.Assuming your length cuts are precise and your lumber is straight, this tool would help speed the building of nice, square 12†on-center frames.

Built a small chicken coop with this framing tool.Easy to handle. Light weight. Measure true to 12" on center.No issues with framing 2x4s but did struggle to get it around pressure treated 2x4s.
