Frequently Asked Questions
What does the center green light mean?
In certain models, the center LED will turn green to indicate the exact center of the stud.
What does the single blinking light mean?
Several of our models now have a low battery indicator. When the battery voltage is low, the second LED from the right will flash. Replace with two brand new batteries.
Why do the LED lights flash when I first press the button?
In certain models, the LED lights will flash when you first press the button to assure you that the unit is on and receiving power.
What batteries can I use?
The ProSensor 710+ is not compatible with rechargeable batteries. For best results, use two brand new, non-rechargeable AA batteries.

I like the way it glides over the drywall, I also like that the lights will light up when the stud is found, and then as I continue across the stud, the lights will light up letting you know you have pinpointed the stud. It worked faster and more accurate then the cheep one that had lasted less than a year. I just receive the 710 + it has some wight and doesn't feel cheep. I will see if any problems turn up over time.

This thing is fantastic. It’s so easy to use and works perfectly. The sensor is precise and accurate. It seems to be durable but I wouldn’t throw it around on concrete. The value for the money is unbelievable. I was using the cheaper ones that are less than $20 and was never impressed. Knocking on the wall with my hand gave me a better idea than trying to use one of those things. This one fits in my bag and works perfectly every time. I’ve used it several times so far and the battery life seems to be good. If you can afford it, spend the extra money and get this stud finder.

We had a very squeaky hardwood floor. Without the Franklin sensor, we would have to be very lucky to find the right spot to drill and be very careful to not to make too many holes in the house.After we got this it was so easy to find the correct spot. On hardwood 95%of the time it works very well, on drywall 100%.

I have never used a better stud finder. It is ridiculously easy to use, accurate and repeatable.The only problem is, it seems as if Franklin designed this delicate product for the casual residential consumer, not for rugged professional use. I have dropped lots of well- made electronic products and they continue to operate - but not this one. Once it fell, both battery contacts separated from the PCB and because they glue rather then screw on the internal plastic housing, I couldn’t take it apart to find a way to reattach the posts reliably. It seems to be designed as a low-cost, short-lifecycle disposable product to maximize their revenue which is such a shame given how well it works. Fragility is not a good design characteristic for any building tool.

This was purchased as an upgrade to an older stud finder I had purchased. The reason for the purchase was to find studs behind the 'old lath and plaster' type wall. It found them fairly consistently. Saved from having to remove the lath and plaster and installing sheetrock simply to find the studs. Hanging a 65" TV, connection to the studs was important.

It's more expensive than most, but it's very good at what it's supposed to do. After going though several cheaper makes over the years I broke down and picked this up to do a house full of cabinets. It worked flawlessly with zero false hits which is much more than I can say for the others.Spend the extra $$$ and buy it and learn from me. The most expensive tools I've ever bought were the ones I had to buy twice (or more) because I bought junk the first time and had to replace them!

Nothing special, if you move to a new apartment and you don't know the wall design where's the metal located this fail. Sometimes finds the metal sometimes not, so it's okay.

C'est un produit utilisé aux états unis (les rois des cloisons en bois placo) Et c'est vraiment excellent pour retrouver les rails de placo pour visser. Comme dit dans un autre commentaire, cet outil m'est devenu indispensable.Marche aussi avec le bois pour les planchers bois.En plus fonctionne avec deux piles AA.

Stud finder works great. Accurate and easy to use. Only thing to be aware is the sensor requires strong lithium batteries to work. I tried using rechargeable batteries and ended up sending one back mistakenly thinking it was faulty. It wasn't. It just needs lithium batteries with a strong charge to work.

Been trying to use a Bosch stud finder at twice the price and getting nowhere so based on reviews decided to give this a try. Popped a couple of AA batteries in a within seconds I had the centre of a stud and confirmed at various points up and down the wall (plasterboard on wooden stud). Double checked with a good old fashioned knock test and good to start drilling holes for a TV wall bracket.I guess like most of these types of device they will all be prone to error based on the surface/material but got to say that that I'm impressed.
