We previously used plastic covers shaped like this, and they would regularly end up too close to something hot and melt. This cover is built like a tank, can handle extreme heat, collapses to a reasonable size, and gets the job done. It also just looks much nicer than plastic junk that will collect stains and discolor over time. This is one of those "buy it for life" items. Spend a little extra for the last one you will ever need.

Very nice product — it’s nice and roomy — it covers an entire dinner plate when heating up your food. Also, when removing the cover off of your food, your hand will not get burnt because of the knob that is on the top of the cover.

So easy to use. Washed in dishwasher many times.The biggest deal is that it is tall enough to not touch food when reheating. Over the years I've tried many of the solid plastic dish covers. Most are too short. I can't heat up a pile of mashed potatoes. I have to smoosh the potatoes flat which means I can't put a little peice of butter in the middle or it will melt off the edges everywhere. Sometimes you just want your mashed potatoes in a volcano with some butter inside. That's all I want. Make mashed once during the week so I have easy leftover mash for the rest of the week. People bulk cook now. I am not doing from scratch mashed potatoes several times per week. That is insane! I want to heat up a my volcano potatoes and eat with joy. This product lets me do so. This does the trick. Deep enough to cover food or to just rest on top of whatever I'm microwaving. Any moisture that collects on the inside top I dry out. Better than using a bunch of paper towels.My brother in law saw ours and liked it so much, he had never seen one before and have ordered a second one for a little Christmas surprise for him - one of those people who is hard to buy for.
