A Windshield wiper linkage assembly is a mechanical device that transfers power from the windshield wiper motor to the wiper arms. Commonly manufactured from stamped steel components, the wiper linkage assembly is typically composed of two or three sections, with some assemblies using four sections of linkage to complete the system.

When Should You Replace the Windshield Wiper linkage?
Wiper Blades Rotate Out of Sequence
If the linkage is worn out or the windshield wiper arm is loose, the blades may move out of sequence. Sometimes it maybe a minor issue like a loose nut between the wiper arm and the linkage. In other cases, it means the linkage is stripped.
Wiper Makes a Grinding Noise
If the blade arm is attached too tight to the linkage and causing the gears of the wiper blade motor to grind, you may notice that your wiper blades make a grinding noise. If gone unchecked, it can cause the wiper motor to burn out prematurely.
Wiper Blades Move Unevenly or Don't Move at All
If you can hear the motor working, but don't see the wiper blades moving, it is the wiper linkage that is broken. This may also be attributed to the wiper arm being stripped from the linkage.

Worked great.Run your wipers and let them stop by themselves. Take a pic of yours at rest so you can install in same position. (Pictured)Then remove the old linkage. BTW there was two poorly shot but helpful videos on youtube for my vue.Important: it almost will go either way. I read a review somewhere where a guy had to cut a little metal out to make it work. And it looked like I needed to also. It was some thin stuff so I didn't care and cut it. (This made sense cause of the review and the box didn't actually list my saturn vue). But then I realized all I needed to do was rotate the mechanical linkage to get the flat bars to the other side and flip the whole thing around and the bolt holes met up nicely.

Easy to install, but had to look at a you tube video to reset the windshield wipers.

I didn't notice that the main bar was backward until I broke one of the special shoulder bolts trying to seat it in the motor housing. There is a pin next to one of the mounts that should go in the corresponding hole, but the hole was on the other end. I had to take the C-clips and washers off the wiper shafts and turn that bar around. Lucky for me, I have a mill and metal lathe at home, and was able to drill out the inside of the shoulder bolt, tap it to 5mm and Loctite a SS button head bolt in it. Then cut off to the correct length. I extracted the broken bolt threads out of the motor housing with my mill.
