Got this for my Cub Cadet riding mower. Engine had a plastic quick drain that was always messy and started leaking after a few years. Took that off and put this on. So much easier to use, doesn't leak, isn't messy, and should last the life of the mower since being made of brass. Quality looks great.

Doesn't drain oil fast, but that cuts down on splatter. Easy to use. If you overfill it is easy to drain to correct level.

It didn't fit my Craftsman 1000 30" rider mower, and if it did it wouldn't turn in because it hit the frame. Thread size is wrong fo that motor. wasted money.

I'm going with a middle-of-the-road review for this drain valve. It's a good idea.. I'm using it to drain the crankcase on my air compressor which allows me the ability to just turn the valve open instead of having to remove a pipe plug and make a mess.. I like that it's machined well and was a good fit. My application did not allow for it to be screwed in all the way to the flange at the top of the threads, so I wish an O-ring or spacer were included for different applications. I also like the ability to attach a drain hose.. But my major complaint is that the orifice opening is much, much smaller than the bore hole it screws in to. This makes for a very slow drain time.. Seriously. Open the valve and go read a book and maybe it will be done draining by then..

So far so good. I installed this about a month ago as a customization on my Craftsman lawn tractor which has a 24HP Intek Briggs V-Twin. The OEM oil drain mechanism was made of a 2-piece plastic tube that was a really bad design. It came loose way too easy from the oil drain hole in the base of the motor. The parts also came apart easy and let the oil then run all over the tractor frame. To correct this mess, I installed a little extension nipple and then placed this at the end so it just pokes over the side of the frame. Bingo! Looks great, works great, no more mess.I took a little piece of the pre-fiilter from my air filter change and stuffed it into the outlet. This will protect the end from collecting crude and hopefully keep the tube clear for the next oil change.

Absolutely love these little valves. Bought it to replace one on my generator where the flimsy handle must have sheared off while someone was tightening it. Now I plan on ordering these as the drain plug on our cars to make oil changes easier. Make sure you use Fumoto’s website to check for diameter and thread size fittings, and make sure your car has adequate clearance for the one you choose. Also plan to buy rubber caps to keep the ends clear. Grab a hose clamp and some clear tubing for less mess during oil changes. It doesn’t have to be clear tubing, but I like to see when the flow of oil starts and stops.

The valve seals. It has a very good locking mechanism that keeps the valve closed. Get familiar with the locking mechanism before installing the valve. Especially if you do not have visible access once installed. The material used is brass it will not take extreme abuse.

after i purchased this replacement engine i realized the oil drainplug was dripping... after a tightening attempt showed it was stripped of threads and a new plug would only worsen... this drain plug tapped out to a larger size would work nicely... ive used this valve in the past with good results... provided its not in a location that would be easily hit and knocked off... i like the positive lock and no mess oil changes... i wish they could make an oil filter that would change as easy... imagine... a no mess oil change...
