The Furman Elite-15 PF i Linear Filtering AC Power Source – Clean Lines Means Clear Audio and Video
The extreme AC demands encountered in the professional audio/video arena have required technological developments far in excess of typical home theater/audiophile power products. In studios, live sound, and broadcast facilities, breakdown is unacceptable. Equipment failure or poor performance is costly. The same is true of today's home theater. Furman's solution based technology, extensive engineering expertise, and robust build quality have answered the challenge of today's corrupted power lines, and led to the creation of the Elite-15 PF i.Zero ground contamination
circuitry protects critical digital components
Protect Sensitive Equipment with Superior Technology
Today's power lines are plagued with RF and EMI noise. When connecting sensitive equipment to your home's power outlet, AC noise couples into your system's critical components. This AC noise masks low level signals and cripples performance. This low level content is critical because it relays the crucial harmonics and ambience in audio, as well as the depth and clarity in video. With Furman's exclusive Linear Filtering Technology, televisions, projectors, DVD players, amplifiers, and processors are fed linearly filtered AC power. This dramatically reduces noise, ensuring consistent peak operation regardless of load conditions or the time of day. For the first time, you will see and hear your theater or audio system as it should be -- uncompromised.
Another critical feature is Furman's exclusive Series Multi-Stage Protection. This virtually maintenance-free surge suppression assures the highest level of AC protection possible, without sacrificing itself when the offending surge is severe -- no damaged equipment, no service calls, no down time. Further, Furman's famous retractable front panel LED lamps allow easy viewing of either a rack or cabinet full of equipment, even when your theater lights are off.
The Elite-15 PF i also features remote control capability via 12V triggering, compatible with the 12V triggering devices commonly found in power receivers and pre-amp processors. Additional products (such as a remote subwoofer) can be daisy-chained from the 12V output jack for an additional triggered unit. The 12V triggering feature may be bypassed if desired.
SMP provides the highest level of protection available
Quality Engineering for Today's Entertainment Demands
At the center of the Elite-15 PF i is our unique Power Factor Technology. For the first time, low-level analog, digital, and video components are not modulated or distorted via the power amplifier's extreme AC current demands. Further, the power amplifier sees a highly filtered, extremely low-impedance supply of AC power. The Elite-15 PF i, in fact, has in excess of 3 Amps of continuous current reserve (over 45 amps peak charge) for the most extreme peak power demands. This technology enables power amplifiers and powered subwoofers to operate at peak efficiency, reaching levels of performance previously unattainable.
No longer will your amplifier's performance be at the mercy of your home's incoming AC power or inferior AC protection/filtering devices. The net effect is as if your power amplifier virtually doubled in power and improved immeasurably in quality.
When employing the Elite-15 PF i, you will immediately notice far clearer, stunningly focused sound and visual images from your system. Video presentation will be crisp and colors true with greater gray and black scale definition, as well as noticeably improved depth and clarity. Sonic transients will be startlingly fast with bass fundamentals that shake foundations with their weight and visceral impact. Mid and high frequencies will bloom with sweet, non-glaring ease while imaging improves dramatically, all the while remaining true to your system's inherent virtues.

I usually hesitate to write reviews immediately after receiving something electronic as the key factor is how something performs and lasts over time. And as I just received received the Furman-15 PF a few days ago, indeed something could go wrong down later. But I am really so surprised at the difference it has made in my audio and video quality - I felt compelled to write something perhaps prematurely. The unit itself is a hefty piece of equipment - all metal casing. Exterior parts appear very solid and well made. In terms of controls there is not much more than an on and off switch and a blue light to indicate power is on. Furman recommends that the user just leave the unit on - as the power draw is small. Plugs in back are labelled for specific uses - such as audio, video, amps etc. They also labeled "switched vs. unswitched." I found this confusing - as I generally think of an unswitched outlet as being "on" regardless of the unit being on or not (such as the outlets that used to be common on receivers.) In fact, none of the outlets have current if unit is "off." The switched or unswitched indicates which ones could be used with a remote or not. In any event, I have decided to leave the Furman "on" as they recommend - so the issue is really moot. Outlets on the back are easy to access, and pretty well spaced - although if you have more than a couple of "wall warts" you might lose the use of an outlet or two.For my audio equipment - I was really not expecting too much based on the mixed reviews of other about the effect on audio. On my system, however, the difference was immediately noticeable and positive. As others have said, the background is now dead quiet. I listen to classical music mostly and on solo piano - there is sharpness and clarity at the highest and lowest ends of the scale that were just not there before. This is true of both CDs and LPs. I have two systems running on it - one is mostly tube/analog, the other is all digital. My equipment is pretty middle of the road - a Jolida 502 tube amp, NAD C320 Bee amp, Rega & Bellari phono amps, Sota Moonbeam turntable, Grado Sonata cartridge, Oppo CD/DVD player, vintage Klipsch Heresy and Dynaco A-25 speakers. They have always sounded good - but once connected into the Furman, it was like all of my equipment had a major tune up - and were now running perfectly for the first time.On the video, my experience similar to what others have said. Blacks have become much deeper, which gives everything a much sharper contrast and detailed look. For the first time - the FIOS TV looked as clear as broadcast digital or DVDs. DVDs are also sharper too - although the improvement compared to the change in FIOS was much smaller. Will others notice such a big difference? It seems to me that results might differ. In my case, I live in an older home with equally old wiring, and many potential noisy devices on the same circuit as my audio equipment, including dimmers, 'fridge, etc. There is not much I can do about that short of doing a lot of house rewiring. This might not be the case in a newer home or where circuits are dedicated to the audio-visual equipment (Radio and phonographs were the only a-v equipment when my home was built!) So in my house, the Furman helped filter out this noise. As for protection against surges, voltage drops, etc. - time will tell how that works. In the few days I have had the unit, it is really impossible to judge the Furman's effectiveness on this. At this point, however, I could not be happier and I'm still pleasantly surprised at the improved audio and video performance.

A few years ago, my audio consultant told me that I needed a power conditioner and that I would hear the difference that it made in my audio system. I was skeptical then, and I was still skeptical when I revisited the concept recently. My audio/video system has a total of 14 (!) devices that needed power, and I was looking for a way to clean up my tangled mess of power cords. I was also attracted by the idea of having more sophisticated (and hopefully reliable) surge protection. Eventually, I decided that it would be worth the investment if only to accomplish these rather routine tasks. I took the plunge and bought the Furman Elite-15 PF I with no expectations that it would improve the system's sound. The Furman is an impressive piece of hardware, much heavier and more substantial than I had envisioned. Installation was straightforward, although it took a while since it necessarily entailed re-routing numerous cords. Once installed, the Furman ran without making a sound or generating a noticeable amount of heat. So far, so good. The real surprise came when I sat down and listened to my stereo with the Furman in place. I have had my system for quite a while now, and many hours of close listening have made me very familiar with the way that it sounds, especially with specific recordings. So I was very surprised a few minutes into my first listening session when I thought that I noticed that the sound was different. Dynamics were more pronounced. Suggestions of harshness that I had previously perceived in certain parts of certain recordings seemed to have vanished. Everything sounded a little bit quicker, clearer, and cleaner. Subsequent sessions have reinforced these initial impressions, and I begrudgingly have to admit that I think that my stereo sounds perceptibly better with the Furman than without it.I should note that my house was built in 1960 and has an odd layout, meaning that the wiring is old and the wiring scheme is somewhat suspect. If you live in a relatively new house with more logical wiring, you may not hear any difference in your system. It's also possible that I have convinced myself that I'm hearing something that isn't there, although I am so cynical about miracle cures like power conditioners that I do not believe that to be the case.Either way, this is a nifty piece of equipment that definitely seems to perform as advertised. I have no use for the pull-out LED light tubes on the front, but otherwise this is a no-nonsense, serious piece of hardware that is worth your consideration.
