Excellent very good condition microfinish surface comparator. There are no engravings or etchings and looks like it has been barely used. Comes with original leather pouch and data/instruction sheet.

Very useful comparator with multiple examples of each surface texture produced by various machining processes, and a good key, so you can get a good feel for what texture you want.It also has a nice case, protective tissue, and helpful info sheet.My only quibbles are that it is a bit smaller than expected from the picture (actual size is 5.47" x 2.09"), but it couldn't be a lot bigger and fit in a pocket so easily. Also, the product sticker that they put on the back of the leather case doesn't remove easily, so it would be helpful if they selected a different adhesive and/or sticker material).

The surface may look accurate, but the actual roughness is not accurate unless you pay them an extra $180 to get it certified.

I work as a design engineer and used to borrow a fellow senior engineer's comparator when going to suppliers. This is the exact comparator that I borrowed, happy to have my own. Price is very reasonable (paid $80).

The machining comparator does it's job. It's a handy reference for folks in our shop to review surface condition on machined goods we receive in to make sure they are to spec. It could be better more stout in construction and a little bigger.
